Heavy Metal was a group mainly of robot supervillains in the Marvel Comics universe that tried to take over the world and destroy the Avengers.
History[]
The group was formed after the Super-Adaptoid escaped confinement with help from the Fixer. He recruited the Awesome Android as his first member and used the Fixer's mind in order to reprogram him so it would obey the Super-Adaptoid's commands. Super-Adaptoid then encountered Machine Man and gave him an offer. If Machine Man joins his team, then he would fix his girlfriend Jocasta. Machine Man complied and the trio then travelled to the panhandle of Texas and reprogramed Sentry 459 and T.E.S.S.-One, becoming additional members for Super-Adaptoid's group.
The entire group was then deployed to Hydrobase and attacked the Avengers that were currently inhabiting it. Despite being a team, they did not know that Super-Adaptoid was trying to find information on the Cosmic Cube. He would eventually discover the data and succeeded in summoning Kubik, which is a cosmic being that evolved from the cube. During the battle, most of the other Heavy Metal members were defeated except for Machine Man, but would change sides with the Avengers against Super-Adaptoid after he copied Kubiks powers and became almost omnipotent.
Super-Adaptoid then used his new powers to imprison all the Avengers in solid blocks of force and then proceeded to make multiple other Adaptoids to replace all the world's humans. Fortunately, Captain America arrived and tried to trick the Adaptoid, and when the Adaptoid replicated Captain America's powers it was unable to replicate his fighting spirit and Captain America defeated him. After the battle, the androids and robots were then sent to a secure location in order to ensure a scenario like this would not occur again.
