Hechaos The Scourge is one of the central main antagonists in the Swords and Sandals series. He is the main antagonist of the first Swords and Sandals game, but his role as main antagonist is eventually taken by Emperor Antares after his defeat. He is one of the faction leaders in Swords and Sandals: Crusader.
He once sold his soul to Archfiend Zeerzabahl, who would later become his colossus during the events of Swords and Sandals: Crusader. Hechaos once allied with Antares and Arglaxx, but Arglaxx would betray him on Emperor Antares's behalf. Despite this, Hechaos would eventually team up with Arglaxx to stop Antares, apparently realizing that he is even more evil than he is.
Personality[]
HeChaos the Scourge is shown to be a bad boss towards his employees, which is the likely reason why he keeps being betrayed. He bears animosity towards Baron Wolfgang due to him marrying a girl that he was attracted to. However, he at one point decided to spare his life. In Swords and Sandals 5, he expresses desire to get his hands on the helmet of Antares, representing the evil side of the game. The player can choose either to help him or to assist Sir Belgrave instead.
Trivia[]
- Though King Lionel is not necessarily his archenemy, he can be considered a foil to him. While King Lionel's army is very loyal to him, his army is not. Furthermore, King Lionel's colossus is Archangel Sandalphon, in contrast to Hechaos's colossus who is Archfiend Zeerzabahl.
