Heihachi Mishima is the main antagonist of the 1998 OVA anime film Tekken: The Motion Picture. He is a ruthless multi-billionaire who plans to bring destruction to the world and humanity itself. He is also the father of Kazuya Mishima and his archenemy, as well as the adopted father of Lee Chaolan.

He was voiced by the late Daisuke Gōri in the Japanese dub and by John Paul Shepard in the English dub.

Biography[]

The film starts in a flashback, showing Kazuya as a child meeting a young girl named Jun Kazama, who was crying after seeing a rabbit being killed by a bobcat. Kazuya offers to kill the bobcat and become the fighter in the world. Heihachi appears and grabs Kazuya and calls him weak. To prove his son’s strength, he takes Kazuya’s locket off, which contains a picture of his mother and tosses it away. He drags Kazuya to a cliff and states that lions push their cubs over a cliff and only raise the ones that climb back up. Kazuya realizes his father’s intentions and begs him to stop, Heihachi throws him off the cliff and forces him to climb back up. At some point, Heihachi adopts Lee Chaolan as his heir to the Mishima Zaibatsu and has been trying to have his brother Kazuya assassinated by Nina and Anna Williams to receive the Mishima Zaibatsu.

Six teen years later, Jun now works as an interpol agent and is assigned to investigate Mishima Zaibatsu’s illegal activities along with Hong Kong police detective Lei Wulong. Together, they enter the upcoming King of Iron Fist Tournament, which was hosted by Heihachi himself. In the central tower, Lee informs him about the R-experiment, but Heihachi questions him about Kazuya’s whereabouts, which Lee tells him that his brother could show up at the tournament.

On the day of the tournament, while Lee greets the competitors, Heihachi appears and announces that he will be waiting for the last remaining fighter at the island’s central tower. A fellow fighter, Michelle Chang, attempts to kill Heihachi by throwing an axe at him, but Heihachi catches it with his teeth and bites it apart. He tells Michelle and the other fighters that he will be waiting at the tower for the final round.

Waiting in the tower, Lee informs him that the R-experiments are ready and apologizes for spoiling his fun, thinking any of the fighters and Kazuya wouldn’t survive. But Heihachi belittles Lee for his creations and being weak. Later, Heihachi senses Kazuya and appears in front of the tower’s entrance. Lee tries to convince Heihachi to let him continue fighting Kazuya, but fails after the latter hits him out of the way and calls him worthless before fighting Kazuya. While almost beating Kazuya, Jun stops and confronts Heihachi’s reasoning for throwing his son off the cliff and planning the world’s destruction. Heihachi explains to Jun that people’s beliefs are killing themselves and should be wiped out along with the entire world to rebuild everything.

After Lee sets off the self-destruct sequence, Heihachi and Kazuya continue their fight, with the latter being overpowered by Kazuya’s hatred and prepares to throw him into the river of lava. However, Jun stops him and is strangled by Kazuya until she tells him that she was injured by his pain and wants to save him. After Kazuya releases the devil from him and realizes his errors, Heihachi gets back up and attacks both Kazuya and Jun, but the three of them fail. But Kazuya and Jun escape from the island with Lei, Dr. Bosconovitch, Jane, Nina and the other fighters in a submarine, with Heihachi surviving and escaping on a jet, making a smirk on his face.

Personality[]

Like in the games, he is a power-hungry and cruel fighter who willing to use and kill his own child just to achieve his own goals. While he is confronted by Jun, he explains to her that people's beliefs are killing themselves and others, and believes the world should be wipe out so he can create a new era. He shows no respect to his adopted son Lee Chaolan and calls him worthless after being defeated by Kazuya.

Despite his ruthlessness, he seems have respect towards Kazuya, as he believed his son to be strong and would have prepared to end his own life if Kazuya was defeated. However, his honor is proven to be false as soon as he tries to kill Kazuya when he chooses not to kill him.

Appearance[]

Like in the first two games, he is depicted with black hair and has large, thick spiky eyebrows, mustache and tanned skin. He is mostly seen wearing a grey long sleeved Japanese shirt and a black hakama.
