Well, this isn't anything new. You never show up in time. You're always too late. The great fire of the Fairy King's Forest twenty years ago...and that time seven hundred years ago...and now, this time, a giantess girl will die because of you.
~ Helbram to King.

Helbram, also known as Love♡Helm, is a major antagonist in The Seven Deadly Sins, serving as the secondary antagonist of Season 1 and supporting ally in Seasons 2 and 3. He is a fairy and former best friend of Third Fairy King Harlequin who later turned against him after losing his sanity due to being betrayed by a human. King ended up killing him but he ended up getting revived as a Holy Knight under Lord Hendrickson to continue his genocidal warpath. This continues until King kills him and he redeems himself when lingering by his best friend as a spirit.

As Helbram, he is voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya (who also voiced Izaya Orihara) in Japanese and Kyle McCarley in English. As Aldrich, he is voiced by Ryōtarō Okiayu (who has also voiced Hades in Record of Ragnarok) in Japanese and Richard Epcar in English. As Love♡Helm, he is voiced by Bryce Papenbrook (who also voiced Zeldris, Eren Yeager, and Nagito Komaeda) in English.

Biography[]

Along with his companion fairies and the Fairy King Harlequin, Helbram resided in the Fairy King's Forest. Helbram, unlike King, was immensely curious about humans, despite King's admonition that humans are never reliable. King playfully reprimanded his best friend for his prior mistrust of humans when Helbram and Elaine discovered that he had learnt how to sew his own garments from a human trader.

Helbram and his companions left the forest one day and entered the humans realm, where they encountered a group of human visitors led by Aldrich who offered to give them some human items. This was a trick, and once the fairies were trapped the humans ripped their wings off to sell. King was apparently struck down by Aldrich as he arrived and tried to save Helbram but became distracted by the dead bodies of his clansmen. Upon realizing this, Helbram killed Aldrich in retaliation. He made the decision to pose as the warrior he had just killed in order to continues killing humans, intending to wipe out all of humanity.

Helbram killed people for 500 years before unexpectedly running into King in the middle of a village he had just destroyed. Helbram starts to tell King what happened to him and why he wanted to put an end to all humanity after they were both astonished to learn that the other was still alive. King used a rose to stab Helbram through the chest, killing him because he knew he had to stop his best friend.

Helbram's body was discovered and sold to a black market, where it circulated for 150 years before being discovered by Hendrickson, who used a forbidden technique known as "Enslavement of the Dead" that was passed down from the Druids to bring him back to life and make him serve Hendrickson as a Holy Knight and right hand.

After being revived by Hendrickson Helbram was made a Cardinal ranked Holy Knight, in his human disguise, and was able to resume his violence against humanity when not busy with Hendrickson's commands. Guila became his apprentice. When Hendickson's coup came to a head Helbram faced off against King and was killed by him again. He was revived by Hendrickson a second time, and killed by King a third time. This final time obliterated Helbram's body, though he would come back again in the form of a spirit bound to the helmet he gifted King. Ultimately Helbram would be "killed" again when the the helmet was destroyed by Diane, who was possessed by the vengeful spirits of a city Helbram had destroyed during his 500 year rampage. This was an act of sacrifice of Helbram's part, completing his atonement.

Personality[]

One can be fooled thinking Helbram has a serious personality because of his human face, but unless he's in a time of great crisis he tends to be quite playful even sometimes during fighting (such as his fight with Meliodas on which he constantly uses playful tones), another example is seen when he jokes that Meliodas' decoration of Guila's face was not very bad and calls it cute even though he hates humans. Helbram was also shown to like doing research, even taking notes during battle. Helbram is shown to be a flirter as he usually called any female he saw a "cutie-pie". Helbram appears to be just as cruel, ruthless and sadistic as the other Holy Knights, as he once tried to kill Diane just to make King upset. Helbram is also prideful and arrogant, believing that the Sacred Tree favors him more than King.

Seven hundred years ago, Helbram was a kinder and trusting fairy, enjoying the company of humans and was interested in their cultures and philosophies. However, after seeing humans tearing off the wings of his fairy friends and subsequently killing them, the event drove him mad while also making him develop an immense misanthropy, and so Helbram began killing humans for five hundred years.[1]
