History[]
As a young man, Helgait became disgusted with the corruption of the Galactic Republic and claimed to believe in democracy. When Count Dooku, the Trade Federation, Commerce Guild, Techno Union, InterGalactic Banking Clan, and others formed the Confederacy of Independent Systems Helgait became a Separatist to fight against the corrupt Republic. Helgait saw Dooku as a visionary who was cut down in his prime by the Chancellor's "Jedi Enforcer." As the Clone Wars came to an end and Palpatine transformed the Republic into the Galactic Empire, Helgait continued to resist the Empire.
Eventually he came into the service of the ruling family of Plazir-15, working as the Security Commissioner for the planet. After the fall of the Empire, the Duchess of Plazir-15 married the former Imperial Captain Bombardier - who was helping to restore Plazir-15 as part of his service in the New Republic amnesty program. The two were soon elected rulers of the planet after helping transition the planet to direct democracy. Angry that reprogrammed droids were relieving the citizens of the need to do heavier work, and that a former Imperial was helping restore Plazir-15, Helgait bought nano-droids from the Techno-Union, which he used to contaminate a shipment of Nepenthé, a popular alcohol-esque lubricant amongst the droids on Plazir-15, causing the droids to malfunction and turn violent against the citizens of the planet.
When Bo-Katan Kryze and Din Djarin arrived on Plazir-15, they were asked by the Duchess and Bombardier to track down the source of the malfunctions. The pair quickly determined that Helgait himself was responsible for the malfunctions. Capturing Helgait, the two Mandalorians took him in front of the Duchess and Bombardier. Helgait admitted his crimes in front of them. The rulers of Plazir-15 told Helgait they were disappointed in him. The Duchess sentenced Helgait to exile on the Moon of Paraquaat, with Helgait hoping he could some day earn their forgiveness.
