The Hell Spawn are a race of genetically and cybernetically engineered pigs, birds, octopuses and hyenas. They possess cybernetic weapons, superhuman strength and durability, their cybernetic enhancements allow them to fly and they can survive in space without a space suit.

The High Evolutionary created the Hell Spawn to protect the new colony, as soon as the Star Children are moved to it. But as the Guardians of the Galaxy attack his ship, the Arête Laboratories, with Knowhere, he orders all of the Hell Spawn to kill everyone on Knowhere and bring him Rocket. When the Hell Spawn infiltrate Knowhere, Kraglin finally learns to control the Yaka Arrow and kills the Hell Spawn with the help of Cosmo the Spacedog, while the part of the Hell Spawn, who defends the Arête, are killed by the Guardians.
