Recusant Henricus, or simply Henricus, is a minor antagonist and sub-boss in the 2022 Dark Fantasy RPG-Action video game Elden Ring. He is a knight and recusant in the service of the serpentine demigod Praetor Rykard, though he may be also loyal to Sir Gideon Ofnir the ll-Knowing, the head of the Roundtable Hold in the Lands Between.
Biography[]
Henricus is a knight who serves as one of the recusants to Volcano Manor under the leadership of the heretical demigod Praetor Rykard. He has a tendency to invade anyone who seeks out the mausoleum in Limgrave.
Despite his servitude to Rykard and the Volcano Manor, however, as his surcoat bears the All-Knowing insignia of Gideon Ofnir, which can also be found in Rykard's arena, this reveals that Henricus's true loyalty lies in the latter, and is suggested that he may have been sent by Sir Gideon to kill Rykard.
Elden Ring[]
Recusant Henricus will invade the player when they approach the Limgrave Mausoleum. However, he won't appear until they either join the recusants or if all the major bosses in Limgrave have been defeated; Agheel, Mad Pumpkin Head, Margit the Fell Omen, a Tibia Mariner, and a Tree Sentinel.
Once all the bosses are killed or if the Tarnished joins Volcano Manor, this will initiate the boss fight upon reaching the mausoleum again. During the battle, Henricus wields a great mace that is imbued with Ash of War: Eruption. Upon his defeat, he will drop the Hammer Talisman, Furlcall Finger Remedy, and 316 runes.
