“ | Listen little brother, it was a snowy day. We three siblings made our escape from our serial killer father. We ran through the snow. I was holding Jeane, who was small, and you were crying as you ran. We spent days and days in the woods. We built an igloo out of the snow to escape the cold. We had finally found our way to a major road. Those huge cars moved in and surrounded us. We heard of the sound of the locks. The adults...they took us...and they tied us up...after that, I lost all my memories and had them overwritten with those of a child born to the Cooldown family. | „ |

~ Henry Cooldown introducing himself to Travis Touchdown. |
Henry Cooldown, or simply known as Henry, is the main antagonist of the No More Heroes franchise. He is a twenty-seven-year-old American assassin, who was raised in Ireland. He is Travis Touchdown's Fraternal twin brother; although, it is unknown if his last name is also "Touchdown", and who the older brother, though Henry claims he's the older brother. In Travis Strikes Again and No More Heroes III, Henry's personality drastically changes and becomes an unhinged psychopath.
In Japanese, he was voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi in all appearances. In English, he has been voiced by Quinton Flynn (who also voices Axel in the Kingdom Hearts series and Jhin in League of Legends) in the first two No More Heroes games and Mark Allen Stewart in No More Heroes III.
Biography[]
No More Heroes[]
He is first encountered as a shadowy figure in the Senton Splash Tunnel of Santa Destroy, on Travis' way to the ranking match versus Letz Shake. Henry and Travis meet face-to-face after Henry kills Letz Shake before Travis, thus igniting a rivalry between the two. Henry is never seen again until the true ending of the game, where Travis becomes the #1 assassin, he challenges Travis to a duel outside the Motel. As their battle ensues, Henry reveals that he is both Travis' twin brother and Silvia Christel's husband of ten years. Both realized that they are very similar and rushed at each other with their swords but the battle is left ambiguously. He also is seem to have a daughter named Jeane, a mysterious child who shares the same name as Travis' half-sister and cat, seen following the credits looking at a painting of Henry and Travis attacking each other in front of the Santa Destroy flag.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle[]
Though it is heavily implied in the real ending of No More Heroes that Henry and Travis honorably kill each other, this is not the case as the game's sequel, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, features both Henry and Travis as playable characters. Henry's first appearance in the game is when Dr. Letz Shake has the frozen body of Henry attached to him. After Travis assassinates Letz Shake, Henry is thawed out, but is stuck in a coma and Travis takes him to his apartment until he wakes up. Later, in the only part of the game where you get to play as Henry, he has a dream where a thing called Mimmy, that looks like an anime character, attacks him and he fights and defeats it. He then wakes up and proceeds to kill Travis' next three opponents, much to his twin's frustration. His last appearance in the game is during the final battle against Jasper Batt Jr., where he crashes in through the window and breaks Travis from Jasper's grasp and later leaves when Jasper goes into his final form not wanting to be "associated with that travesty".
No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again[]
Henry appears in the DLC chapter where he now leads a cult called Order of the Emerald Night and his personality has completely shifted. Henry says that he was inspired by a movie about a god and his brother, which caused his personality shifted and wanting to start a cult dedicated to him. He ambushes Travis in his trailer but he escapes with Henry swearing revenge. It's implied that Henry is possessed or brainwashed since he speaks in third person in an odd way and have the members of his cult look and dress like him. It is possible that it was foreshadowing the twist in No More Heroes III.
No More Heroes III[]
Sometime during the events of No More Heroes III, Henry was hired by Damon Riccitiello to kill Travis. His personality is drastically different from his previous self in the last games. Continuing from Travis Strikes Again, it is shown that his origins were false memories and that he and his siblings were trying to escape from their serial killer father and then got kidnapped. Since he somehow regains these memories and worshipped some alien god, he is hellbent on killing his brother Travis and later fights him only to be killed. however it is soon revealed that he had cloned himself temporarily killing his brother Travis. In the end it is shown that in the future, he allied with aliens after permanently killing Travis and wanting to take over the world. Jeane and Hunter, Travis and Silvia's children, along with Jeane's son Scott the Native Dancer go back in time to ask for Travis' help in stopping him.
Personality[]
Henry is the complete opposite of Travis Touchdown from appearance, demeanor, lifestyle, and tone of voice. Henry is very calm and relax with himself while Travis is pretty bombastic and easy to anger. He is shown to have a easy way of living with his job unlike Travis, who struggles to make a living for himself. Henry dresses professionally and loves to challenge his brother. He literally see himself as "the handsome foil" to Travis, probably implying that he thinks that he is better than Travis despite knowing how similar they are. In the second game, he remains the same but his behavior kinda shifts. There are moments where he makes a joke, his skin is pale, and helps Travis on his journey for revenge by killing three of his targets. Henry has a weird dream where he fights anime thought-form called Mimmy, who questions his state of mind but he tells it to go away with a sense of confusion. He returns to help Travis fight Jasper Batt Jr but leaves because he does not like how things turn out and calls it a "travesty".
When he returns to Travis Strikes Again his personality completely changes. He became a delusional cult leader with a new purpose to kill Travis and becomes eager to kill him. According to him, after watching a movie about a god and his brother he was reminded of himself and his relationship with Travis. Afterwords he develops a sense a megalomania and builds a cult dedicated to him. He wants to get rid of Travis to prove that he is better than him and want him out of his life for good. His mind continues to deteriorate in the next game, when he looked more into his past and discovers the "truth". He reveals that he, Travis, Jeane, were brainwashed by a mysterious group and were place in different locations in the world. Through his fight and dialogue in the game, he is shown to be quite derange with his Irish accent absent in the game. He mocks his brother in the fight and keeps mentioning on how much of a crybaby he is, showing a bit of sadistic side of him. Even though he dies, its revealed that he is still alive and that Travis killed a clone. With Travis's death, he teamed up with aliens to take over the world for himself.
So in the end of the day, Henry is the perfect foil for Travis and despite being the complete opposite of his brother, he manage to become a very derange person while Travis tries to leave the assassin business and live a peaceful life with his family. He won't let go of the past and continue to dwell in it to the point of insanity.
Appearance[]
In No More Heroes, Henry wears a full grey outfit, has brown hair and wields the Cross Sword, a beam katana similar to Travis' Tsubaki MK-III. In No More Heroes 2, he abandons his coat and his skin tone has turn a little pale. But Henry's appearance completely changes in Travis Strikes Again, where he wears black shades and having very messy hair that turned black and a checkered tie, completed with a full suit. This gets worse in the third game, where he has spiky hair and obtains a mysterious third eye and wears a very dark suit that makes him look like a stereotypical preacher.
