I know you think a lot about your little boy, because I do. He was a sweet child, and I want you to know, he did not suffer. After all the acceleration, guilt came over me. You should feel guilty, too. Smart people like you should know the streets are not safe. They're never safe. Believe me.
~ Faust's letter to Thomas Sung's parents.
Well, hello Mr. Piper. It's time to play.
~ Faust greeting and petting his pet rabbit before attempting to kidnap another child.

Henry Faust is the main antagonist of the Unsub episode "Silent Stalker". He is a birthday clown for hire, who is secretly a pedophile, and was responsible for the murder of Thomas Sung.

He was portrayed by John Snyder.

Biography[]

Little is known about Faust. What is known, is that he worked as a children's birthday party clown along with his pet rabbit, Mr. Piper, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Though he looked and acted friendly, under the make-up, Faust was a pedophile who was attracted to little boys, and used his pet rabbit to lure them into his car. On October 7th; he kidnapped an Asian boy named Thomas Sung, raped him, asphyxiated him, and dumped his body in the woods. He kept the boy's parka as a way to relive the crime and wrote a letter to the parents expressing guilt, but also guilt tripping the parents.

Two weeks after the murder, Thomas' body was discovered by hunters. Despite investigating, the police couldn't solve the case, and instead contacted John Westley Grayson and his team of behavioral science agents to investigate. Grayson initially turned down the case, but was talked into it by an transfer intern named Lucille. The agents walk the route that Thomas was supposed to walk and the team's psychic, Tony D'Agostino sees a security camera in one of the shops. He talks to the owner Mr. Waltmeir and asks to see the camera footage. Afterwards, he sends the footage to be analyzed by agents Alan and Norma McWhirter. While watching through the footage, the agents see a car following Thomas. Using the computer, the agents zoom in on the driver's face and clear it up a bit, allowing Faust's make-up to be seen.

Meanwhile, at a birthday party, one of the boys there gets his attention, but Faust withholds himself from acting on his urges. After leaving the party, Faust attempts to kidnap another boy, but his plans are foiled by the boy's mother. Later in the day, Faust tries again, but is foiled by Lucille, after she sees his car while the other agents are interviewing Thomas' music teacher. Lucille is reprimanded for breaking protocol and told to go back to Washington, but not before telling the other agents the license plate number of Faust's car. While the other agents are watching Faust's house, Lucille calls him and tells him the police are coming for him. Upon hearing this, Faust runs out the door and drives away, nearly hitting a pedestrian. The agents spot him and the local officer Litton shoots at Faust's car, causing him to crash into another car, killing him.

Trivia[]

  • Faust is inspired by multiple real-life criminals:
    • John Wayne Gary, a.k.a. “The Killer Clown”, a serial rapist and killer of boys and young men known for, despite his previous criminal record, entertaining children as a party clown and with rides around his construction properties. He was discovered once the people he murdered were found buried on his property and thrown into a nearby river.
    • Albert Fish, a.k.a. “The Gray Man”, an unstable pedophile and serial killer of children caught once he sent a perversely taunting letter to the parents of the last child he was confirmed to have murdered.
