Biography[]
Talbott was a Yale graduate lawyer specializing in personal injury lawsuits; he married a financially comfortable woman maned Denise and had children with her. Denise turned a blind eye, no matter how much she hated Talbott for it, to burning her money on gambling, cocaine, and women he had affairs with, typically his own clients. When Denise didn't have enough money, Talbott embezzled from his clients. The women he cheated on Denise with were always shorter than him, as Talbott wanted to feel more of a man by having more height than other women. But when the women wanted Talbott to marry them and threatened to tell Denise if he refused, or they wanted their money back from finding out he stole from them, Talbott began killing them all.
Talbott originally snapped when he drowned Angie Suarez in her bathtub for her threats. Concerning statements from Marie Rimer led Talbott to drown her as well as stage her death as a drowning in the sea. Losing control of himself, Talbott then strangled Deirdre Carnahan while he was jogging. Talbott believed he was in the clear, until Irina Konchalovsky also threatened to talk to Denise, so he strangled her in Connecticut. Denise noticed the loss of her money and Talbott's changing moods, but she wasn't certain about the murders at first. Talbott became more combative with Denise, but she was too afraid and depressed to report him. Even when detectives questioned her, she still defended ehrself by saying she new nothing to ignore Talbott's crimes.
When Talbott was in interrogation, he sexually harassed Detective Alexandra Eames, and since Denise was watching, she was done defending him. Denise turned on Talbott by revealing she saw him throwing out the clothes of the women he killed. Detective Robert Goren than came in and confronted Talbott, hoping to provoke his confession by insulting his character and, of course, his height. This was the backdrop needed to set off Talbott by confirming Denise was observing and gave him. Talbott not only confessed, he shattered the one-way window to try and kill Denise, and when he was cuffed and dragged away, he alternately pleaded with and threatened Denise. Talbott would be convicted on the maximum charges for his crimes.
