The Heralds of the Shredder, formally known as the Foot Mystics, are recurring antagonists of the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series, who follow the Shredder. They followed the Utrom Shredder, followed by his successor, Karai. But their true allegiance is with the Tengu Shredder, for they attempted to be freed from the medallion and plan to resurrect their old master. They earn a bigger role in the Lost Episodes of the series.

History[]

The Heralds were followers of the Tengu Shredder and were powerful enough to fight the Ninja Tribunal.

Sometime after his merger with Shredder Tengu and establishing his reign of terror in Japan, Tengu Shredder recruited many evil beings as part of his army. Heralds of the Shredder happened to be among those creatures. When the Ninja Tribunal stepped in to stop Tengu Shredder, they defeated the Heralds before or after defeating their master by using Heart of Tengu.

Main Episodes[]

The Heralds first appeared as the Foot Mystics and were seen fighting the Turtles and Splinter when they infiltrated the Foot Clan's tower. Splinter defeated them by using the Sword of Tengu, which burned his hands in the process.

In "Bad Day", they used black magic to destroy the turtles in their minds by creating an illusion under Karai's orders. But Splinter and the Turtles saw their deception and overcome their tricks. Karai scolded them for their failure.

They were seen disguised as a mysterious cloaked mystic and tricked Agent Bishop and the turtles into stealing an artifact called the Heart of Tengu so they can be free of its control and from Karai's control. The plan was successful after the turtles entered the Foot Tower and got it. They're finally free from Karai's grasp when they have Baxter Stockman destroy the artifact and they reverted to their true forms and begin their plans to resurrect the "One True Shredder".
