Herb (ハーブ, Haabu) is a minor antagonist in the manga of Ranma ½. He is the prince of the Musk Dynasty and a skilled martial artist. Herb, like Ranma Saotome, is cursed to turn into a female.

Biography

Herb is a haughty prince, disdainful of those he believes to be his inferiors. He does not hesitate to use his enormous powers to inflict pain on any who annoy him and those that offend his pride are summarily punished by death. Before a marriage interview, Herb goes to Jusenkyo to see fist the body of a naked woman, turning a monkey into a woman dunking it in the Nyanniichuan and then using the Chiisuiton (Pail of Perseveration) to prevent it to go back to normal. But the monkey takes it and splash Herb with the water of the spring, turning Herb into a woman and sealing her in that form. Herb finds out that the Kaisuifuu (Pot of Liberation) that can remove the seal is in Japan, so she took Mint & Lime, two of his followers, to find the Kaisuifuu in Japan.

Herb asks Cologne about the location of the Kaisuifuu and she answers her that is in the Horaizan (Treasure Mountain). Before leaving, Mint and Lime came back with Akane and Shampoo, Herb, who dose not want to lose more time, takes Akame away as a roughly way. This angers Ranma and fights her, but Herb defeats Ranma and goes to the Horaizan. Ranma follows her to find the way to undo his curse and to take revenge on Herb. In the Horaizan, Herb removes the seal and returns to his male form, altough he still has the curse. There Ranma fights him again, although Herb almost beats her again, but Ranma (now in his maleform) came out of the tornado and uses the collected chi of Herb blasts to smash him in the ground: The mountain collapses after the battle and Ranma takes the unconscious Herb to save him. Then Herb, along Mint and Lime, goes back to China. Herb now thinks that Ranma is a man tat might be worthy of respect.

Powers and Abilities

Herb is an immensely skilled, swift, dangerous and ruthless martial artist. The combined effect from extensive usage of all his attacks, during his prolonged final confrontation with Ranma, is shown to directly create a 2m-3m wide, deep chasm in Horaizan, with a shown span of at least 14m, but which stretches off page.
