Herbert Baskerville is the main antagonist of Mafia: Definitive Edition's game mode "Freeride".
Biography[]
Herbert Baskerville is an organized criminal operating in Lost Heaven during the 1930s. He has a human body and is wearing a suit and tie, but has the head of a German Shepherd. His background is unknown, although he is aware of Tommy Angelo's exploits with the Salieri Crime Family. Baskerville manages to either infiltrate of pay someone off to leave notes around Salieri's Bar for Tommy and appoint him jobs. These range from car thefts, assassinations and even chasing down a UFO. Tommy follows those instructions.
Baskerville becomes a target in the final mission of Freeride "Curse of the Baskervilles". Tommy chases him down and engages in a fight, in which Tommy wipes out Baskerville's men. He finally kills Baskerville, and unlocks a Baskerville outfit complete with dog's head.
Trivia[]
- His name is a reference to the Hound of the Baskervilles.
- The character's appearance is based on a very rare glitch from the original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, in which some civilians may appear with a dog head.
- The final mission implies his dog head might be the result of a curse, and that he maybe suicidal as he appoints Tommy to kill him. It is unknown if Tommy ended up inheriting the curse in the universe of the Freeride game mode.
