Herbert Cook was a minor antagonist in the British soap opera Coronation Street. He was a petty crook who was friends with kind-hearted criminal Eddie Yeats.

Biography

Herbert walked by as Eddie was doing a loft conversion on Betty Turpin's house. Seeing that Hebert was down on his luck and feeling sorry for him Eddie invited him into the Betty's house to talk and have a cup of tea. Herbert took this opportunity to steal a clock from Betty, knowing suspicion would fall on Eddie.

Eddie tracked Hebert down and found him living underneath a viaduct. Eddie realized Hebert was in a desperate situation and chose not to turn him in. Herbert also told him he had a sold the clock, meaning Eddie had no hope of retrieving it. Eddie then went to Betty and appealed to her kind nature to convince her not call the cops on him.
