Organization Overview

The Circus is, first and foremost, a show, THE show. Those in its employment live to perform, to regale the audiences with their talents. When the circus comes to town, no one quite understands where they came from, or how they managed to put up that tent without anyone seeing it. Officials are baffled by the sudden existence of a bigtop and the associated caravans, trailers and wagons, but strangely enough the paperwork always seems to be in order.

And of course, once they attend the show, they lose any misgivings they might have. Because, after all, it is the greatest show on earth.

The circus treats its performers, be they tightrope walkers consisting only of legs, tentacled things that gibber and squeal, or clowns with the tears of a thousand dead stars in their eyes, as valuable assets. The circus is a family, and family stays together.

So come watch the show, come feel the magic! After all, what do you have to lose?
~ From Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting Hub.
How can one describe the indescribable? How can I put into words the impossible spectacles I saw that night? Acrobats danced through the air, tethered to thin lifelines as they dangled far above us, unfazed by the danger of an absent net as they seemed to simply fly free of gravity’s fragile hold. The horror and slapstick antics of the clowns as they cavorted across the spaces within the rings. They twisted into incredible shapes, disgorged flowers that exploded into sprays of black confetti and glitter, danced and tumbled and caused mayhem, all while another impossible act took center stage to perform before the astonished crowd. A bear danced and sang a mournful dirge as it twirled its way across the center ring. A man rode a motorbike round and round a flaming sphere, cackling with exhilarating laughter as he risked his life over and over again.
~ From "A Night at the Circus!".
There’s that word again. You know why they call us anomalous? Because they don’t want us to think we’re special. They give you a number, call you ‘it’, and describe your magical, miraculous endowments as if they were taking your blood pressure. And they take special care never to call our gifts ‘powers’ lest we start thinking of ourselves as superheroes.
So tell me Lexi, what’s your power?
~ The Man With The Upside-Down Face in "A Scip Or A Star?".

Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting is recurring and later on-and-off antagonistic faction in the SCP Foundation mythos. It is a circus comprised of anomalous individuals who travel throughout the world and used their properties to perform in front of their audience. Although the circus truly wants to just entertain and most members are somewhat friendly, their tyrannical leader Herman Fuller had his staff kidnap these individuals to use them for profit and severely mistreated and experimented on them.

The Circus is the main protagonist of the "Dread & Circuses" canon.

History[]

Origin[]

Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting was founded by its namesake Herman Fuller himself, a wealthy individual who after learning of the anomalous world behind the Veil of Secrecy accumulated great knowledge while making many enemies in his experience. Because he loved to be on the spotlight he stole the Fiji Mermaid and brought it to life and seeing the success it brought him decided to form a circus of his own. He soon began garnering various anomalous individuals and creatures all over the world, or how they were referred to as freaks, among the earliest being the Man With The Upside-Down Face and a race of humanoids resembling clowns who wanted to make people laugh. This was all before the 19th century, but as times changed Fuller found it difficult to keep his freaks at bay, leading to him becoming unnecessarily cruel towards them, torturing them from time to time as a form of discipline and getting rid of them once their use ran out.

Activities[]

By the modern times, the Circus had become a known group in the anomalous world, using the Kaleidoscope to open the interdimensional Ways to travel throughout the world and spread entertainment, while recruiting or kidnapping additional paranormal beings. However, in their time of exhibition and performance the Circus came into conflict with normalcy-preserving organizations such the SCP Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition which continually attempted to hunt and shut them down. The Circus always managed to escape at the last second, often barely successful, and were forced to abandon some of their attractions in the process. This disregard of the freaks only fueled the staff's antipathy towards Fuller, causing him to increase his rule through fear, intimidation and torture.

This all culminated when Fuller decided to kill his longtime associate Manny. Manny, seeing how the Freewheelers constantly threatened the Clowns and freaks, had enough of Fuller's cruel security and killed them all. This infuriated Fuller who had Manny tied up and replaced the Freewheelers with the equally horrifying Penny Farthings. He had the entire Circus gather around him, announcing to everyone that he would have them all personally massacre Manny against their will by having Tom Brenneman, Elisa the Living Head vengeful ex-boyfriend, use the black cotton candy to control them.

Thankfully, Icky intervened by destroying the calliope and announced that it was time to be rid of Fuller. All of the Circus rallied behind her and destroyed the newly created Farthings before capturing both Fuller and his last loyal underling Brenneman. As the chaos subsided, Icky and Manny used the Kaleidoscope to open a portal to SCP-3001 to throw Fuller and Brenneman into it so that they may suffer a slow painful death. With Fuller finally gone, Manny made Icky the new Ringmaster since the entire Circus adored her, but decided to still keep Fuller's name in their Circus' title.

In the following twenty years the Circus under Icky went through a bit of restructuring, allowing members who were previously forced to be part of it to leave, recruiting new members and regaining old ones, and improving their relationships with fellow Groups of Interest that worked behind the Veil of Secrecy. Unfortunately for them, Fuller was hellbent to exact revenge on everyone who had wronged him. He and Brenneman managed to escape from SCP-3001 and went to the interdimensional marketplace the Utterly Bazaar where they attempted to capture Lolly, intending to use her to lure the entire Circus to his long abandoned Matinee. Icky was immediately alerted of Fuller's return and with Manny's assistance she went to her girlfriend's rescue. She fought off Fuller and killed Brenneman, but the former ringmaster once again fled.

Unwilling to let Fuller come after them, Icky and her Circus decided to ambush him directly in his Matinee. Preparing themselves to fight him and his puppeteered corpses, the Clowns, Freaks and Carnies went through the Kaleidoscope and the battle started. The Circus managed to cut the strings of all of the puppets, and using a Scranton Reality Anchor Fuller's powers were neutralized. Now at their mercy, Fuller was killed by the Circus, but didn't allow his soul to move on, having him trapped in his own dead body and turned into a puppet for his own Matinee. Now that Fuller was taken out of the picture for good, the Circus members resumed their usual shenanigans.

Possible Endings[]

SCP-5500[]

When someone began using the S.W.A.N.N. Engine to kill multiple Authors, all of the multiverse became affected by this as the creations of deceased authors were destroyed. One of the casualties was the entirety of Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting as everything related to the group crumbled to dust and ceased to exist. This damage was possibly undone by Dr. Sinclair after she defeated the murderer.

SCP-6314[]

In December of 2018, after the Veil of Secrecy was destroyed as a result of Mekhane's appearance on Russia and the destruction of SCP-610, the anomalous world became public knowledge. This led to the Circus to be allowed to freely perform around the world unhampered by the Foundation. The Foundation would even surrender to the Circus a couple of anomalous animals for them to get a better home.

Organization[]

The Circus is comprised of various attractions each with their own unique traits and jobs, most of which were brought in by the Man With the Upside-Down Face. First is the Big Top that put on every afternoon and evening feature-length performances of their best acts; the Den of Freaks; the Menagerie of Mayhem which displays and houses anomalous creatures; the Hall of Humans Extraordinaire; the Petting Zoo for the kids; the Fun-Lover's Funhouse in which visitors should stick together; and the Mermaid Exhibit which was the very first attraction of the Circus, first housing the stolen and animated Fiji Mermaid before being used for other creatures. Besides these there are also other smaller attractions such as a midway of rides, games and concession stands, and numerous tents of individual acts. All of the staff were paid with scrips, since they traveled through various places with differing currencies.

Within the Circus there are various ancillary sites which the members use. At the top is the Ringmaster's Tent that serves as an office for Fuller before it was taken by Icky; the Kaleidoscope which can open interdimensional roads known as Ways that connect to the Multiverse; the Clown Alley which is a single trailer that appears normal on the outside but its interior has been expanded so much to comfortably house all of the Clowns; the Dormitory Trailers in the size of train-cars separated into eight single/four double sleeping compartments with a shared washroom in which the top talented members live privately while non-performers double up in a single one; and the Cookhouse which makes food for the Circus staff. There are other trailers used for storage, transport and support like laundry and infirmary.

The Clowns employed by the Circus are divided in Original Clowns, Converted or Turned Clowns, Bred Clowns and Not Clowns. The Original Clowns are an eldritch horror species of reality-benders scientifically known as Bozomorphic entities or Homo Sapiens Prodigiosus which originated from Alagadda. The Converted/Turned Clowns were normal humans who have been transformed into Clowns. The Bred Clowns are hybrids created through the fusion of the genetic materials from both the Original and Converted Clowns, bred by Dick C. Normus with the use of the Fun-Lovers and need to be milked in order to not explode and provide sustenance to their progenitors. These Clowns were required to take Clown Impulse Suppressants in order to not have outbursts or breakdowns, and their diet solely consisted of candies which were healthy for them. The Not Clowns are just performers who disguise themselves as Clowns but have nothing to do with the species. The species was not exclusive to Fuller's Circus as Clowns could be hired by other parties. Professional Clown breeder Bambousio Starswinger heavily criticized Fuller for augmenting his Clowns, further deviating them from the norm which resulted in them becoming unstable, deeming the Circus of the Disquieting as unsafe for Clowns. The Circus referred to normal people as "Humdrum or vanilla humans".

As said prior, the Circus moved around the world through the use of the Kaleidoscope, a device crafted by Fuller in the late 19th century using Ravelwoods’ lumber and beryllium-bronze clockwork salvaged from a Mekhanite colossus. The magical wood would emit EVE radiation that got processed through the clockworks and created temporary artificial Ways, similar to the Ways of the Wanderer's Library. Thanks to the Kaleidoscope, the Circus could travel anywhere around not only the world, but throughout the multiverse, and immediately disappear if they were about to be caught.

They also made extensive use of Pretermemetics, those being information that depending on the recipients' nature or circumstances could be memetic or anti-memetic. The group itself became pretermemetic to draw in numerous customers from the surrounding population, while at the same time being completely hidden to enemies like the Foundation, GOC etc. As a result of this, most of the customers remembered the Circus and their time there as just dreams and illusions.

Fuller took various measurements to prevent anyone from entering or leaving the Circus. First were the Freewheelers which were monsters resembling giant dolls of animals riding tricycles that acted as Fuller's security, but very often attacked its members. Manny eventually had enough of them and killed them, forcing Fuller to replace them with the Penny Farthings. Immediately after, he and the Farthings were also disposed of, leaving the Circus to employ a much better security system that actually protected its staff and didn't intimate them.

Relationships with other organizations[]

The SCP Foundation actively pursued the Circus and its anomalies due to their performances disrupting normalcy, causing the Circus to become fearful of the organization. Some of the sentient anomalies the Foundation had contained were given asylum and were often allowed to perform for staff. The Foundation formed Mobile Task Force Kappa-14, also known as “AH! Sideshow Bob!”, which specialized in anomalies related to the Circus. The Circus had also been enemies with the Foundation's predecessors Her/His Majesty's Royal Foundation for the Study of Curiosities and Phantasmagoria and the American Secure Containment Initiative.

The Circus had a deep-seated hatred for the Global Occult Coalition, as they see it as an evil organization that used its motivation to supposedly protect the world as pretext to massacre innocent individuals who just happened to be anomalous. Although, some Circus members wished to take the GOC down, for the most part the Circus actively avoided the organization to live peacefully.

Understandably, the Circus had hostile relations with organizations like the Chaos Insurgency, the Axis Powers, GRU Division "P", Y.W.T.G.T.H.F.T. and IRS.

The Circus considered P.T. Barnum Barnum & Bailey's Ringling Bros. Circus an enemy, until it disbanded.

Herman Fuller was originally a member of a Sarkic cult before deciding to leave the religion altogether. He often used his flesh-based powers to modify several members of his Circus of the Disquieting, but he and the circus were wary of Sarkicism as a whole and didn't wish to have anything to do with it. The Circus was enemies with the Underground House of Habsburg.

Back when he was human Lord Blackwood visited the Circus in Connecticut and at first he marvelled at the breathtaking attractions at display. However, when witnessing Fuller losing control of an anomalous bear, Blackwood intervened and put the beast down. Fuller was enraged and demanded compensation, but after Blackwood threatened him with his gun, he instead decided to settle this matter with a challenge which involved Blackwood shooting a moving target. Blackwood agreed, but while he was concentrated on the target, Fuller attempted to kill from behind using the gentleman's own gun, only to find it out of ammunition. Blackwood fought back, causing Fuller to drive him and the rest of the audience away by unleashing countless doves before he and the Circus escaped.

The Circus, under Fuller, had a complicated relationship with Marshall, Carter and Dark Ltd.. Fuller specifically worked together with MC&D to gain profit, though often at the expense of the Circus' members who came to fear MC&D. After Fuller was disposed of, the relationship not only remained intact but improved as Icky and Lolly became friends with Iris Dark, one of MC&D's three leaders. The MC&D even assigned their young representative Victor Chan as a client for the Circus to act as its 'straight-man' and audience surrogate.

The Circus appeared to have access to the interdimensional kingdom of Alagadda. Lolly once also travelled to Kul-Manas to accompany Iris and Victor where they met with the Wandsman Ickis the Wayward as part of a trading business. The trade went sour when Kul-Manas' Guildmaster attempted to take Dark prisoner, prompting her to try and kill them all, but was prevented by Lolly who managed to settle things down. Because of this, Lolly was allowed to visit the interdimensional city at any time, though she was prohibited from asking the Wandsman about his reproductive or digestive biology in the presence of Dark.

When Herman Fuller tried to start his own line of Little Misters, the Dr. Wondertainment company threatened him with a lawsuit. Their relationship improved once Fuller was gone, as Icky and Lolly became odd friends with Isabel Wondertainment V and worked together to create merchandise for the Circus, despite the Clown couple having been banned from Wonder World which Isabel had completely lost control over. The Circus came to hire former Wondertainment worker Brainy Brian under the identity of a anomalous performer by the name of Smarty Marty. After finding out he was in actuality a child serial killer, Icky, Manny and the rest of the Circus attempted to kill him, but he managed to escape with help of former Circus member Pepper.

The Horizon Initiative saw the Circus in a negative light due to its lack of respect and seriousness, but were not direct enemies.

In MEMORANDUM 083 REGARDING PROJECT "GUARDIANSHIP" the Office for the Reclamation of Islamic Artifacts once captured two members of the Circus, despite them not posing any threat to Iranian citizens.

The Circus appeared to have had a neutral relationship with the Serpent's Hand. despite Fuller being banned from the Wanderer's Library. Several Circus members could freely access and traverse the interdimensional region of the Wanderer's Library, and often contributed to the Hand's documentation of various anomalies and factions. Meanwhile, after Fuller was overthrown, he was tortured and publicly executed by some Hand members for the heinous crimes he did, though this didn't really affect the Circus.

When she was twelve years old, Lolly wandered through the Wanderer's Library and accidentally ended up in the universe of the Shark Punching Center. At first she believed them to be the Foundation, but a SPC captain assured her that they were nothing like their counterpart, and since then the SPC anc the Circus had a good relationship.

The Unusual Incidents Unit appeared to have somewhat of a good relationship with the Circus as when it arrived to perform in Florida the UIU contacted it and allowed it to continue with its activity as long as it abided with the Veil. The relationship soured after the UIU took into custody one of its attractions, Robbie Red-Nose. Though the Circus escaped and left Robbie behind, the UIU saw that the Clown had learned from his mistakes and began discussing to let him go, while planning to pursue Fuller himself for his crimes.

When the Circus learned that The Factory opened their own amusement park known as "The Factory Funtime Facility" in the Crossroads Nexus connected to the Wanderer's Library, they were opposed by this for fear of being bought out and went to sabotage it in order to have the evil park destroyed.

The Circus had made a deal with dado to give him their merchandise so he could sell them on their behalf. However, dado rebranded the merchandise for his own made-up circus and made SCP-4292 that proved to be dangerous to consumers, which angered Icky and her coworkers who went to confront him. Upon being confronted dado agreed to their terms, but left them at the mercy of Moon Champion who had been after the scamming drug dealer. Thankfully, the Circus managed to convince him they weren't at fault and led the Champion directly to dado.

The Circus was a frequent patron of the Ambrose Restaurants as several members enjoyed the food. The restaurant chain owner, Chaz Ambrose, made a deal with the Circus to buy some of its black cotton candy (SCP-1921-A2) to allow his establishments to operate in the mundane without getting caught by the Foundation, and in exchange both organizations would advertise each other to their respective customers.

Some Circus members, such as Lolly, could project their consciousness into the Oneiroi dreamworld and even interacted with its inhabitants, which included the Oneiroi West.

Tim Wilson and his organization Wilson's Wildlife Solutions deemed the Circus' treatment of its animal attractions cruel. Thankfully, the two organizations managed to set their differences aside, as the Circus thought that Tim was quite of a nice individual.

Various Circus members often visited the inter-dimensional marketplace of the Utterly Bazaar for business purposes.

For reasons unknown, Orville Reed's family, Robert Ripley, the Magic Mobsters, the Islamic Union of Eastern Samothrace, Davenport Chamber of Commerce, the Public Domain Protection Service, the Chattanooga Film Society, the Three Moons Initiative, the Necromancer Barons of Undervast, Alagadda's Olive Oil Merchant, the King of Hy-Brasil, Extra-Universal Smoking Solutions, SCP-2337, SCP-4444, Westboro Baptist Church and Ruiz Duchamp have become some of the Circus' many enemies.

At some point the Circus met the Black Rabbit Company and at first there was no animosity between them. However, after Icky challenged the Company in a score game, things went awry and the two groups became enemies.

One time, SCP-3884-01, also known as Gunmetal Gary, attempted to distribute his anomalous guns within the Circus' ground, which upset Icky, Manny and Lolly as he was making the children uncomfortable. He tried to negotiate with them, offering to gift the Circus' attendants free guns, improve their security, and even join them to become an attraction himself. The Circus didn't want to have anything to do with him, and seeing he wouldn't budge, had Noodles take him away, which caused his loaded truck to explode, scaring everyone while Gary disappeared. Following the incident, the Circus barred Gary from ever entering their territory.

The Circus was approached by several covert members of the Hive who wished to join. Manny was able to use his telepathic powers to see that they were infected by a collective hive mind and barred them from entering. Fearing that some individuals may have infiltrated the Circus, Manny used his telepathy to discern which member was infected by the Hive.

Notable Attractions[]

  • A Prize Box (SCP-190): A wooden box carved with circus themes. When someone older than 10 years opens the box it would contain 17 colorful marbles, 2 sticks of green sidewalk chalk and a deck of Bicycle playing cards which cannot be taken out of the box and cause a feeling of unease. When opened by a child under the age of 10, the box would contain one to five children games such as stuffed animals, rubber balls, yo-yos, dolls, blocks and simple board games which can be removed from the box only by the children. The children would be unusually excited and pleased at playing with them, and as they played the adults would get seriously injuried by the toys. If no children play with it, the box would proceed to play a cognitahazardous music that compelled any children nearby to play with it. It seems that the box served to train children to become future circus performers.
  • Herman Fuller's Meatworm Coaster! (SCP-1695-1): A machine created by Leljud Kozlovsky, a former member of the Meat Circus, that a person could insert their bottom half and once activated their legs would transfigured into a worm's tail, turning that person into a SCP-1695-2 instance, though the process can be reversed. It was claimed by the Foundation in Estevan Fairgrounds in Saskatchewan after the Circus attempted to destroy due to not having enough time to pack it up but was prevented by its creator who was also captured.
  • Uriel Fishbones (SCP-1834): An elderly African-American man who suffers from arthritis and trimethylaminuria. His normal eyes has been surgically sawn shut and turned into snail-like eyes which he can elongate and move at will. When he believes that it is time for showtime he would move to the center of the room he is in and proceed to perform by making detailed and intricate shapes suggested by the audience using his eyestalks. He was an orphan taken by Fuller to become a member of his Circus but was left behind in Louisiana.
  • Virtuoso (SCP-1860): A living statue-like humanoid with elongated neck and no features except for its face. It constantly produced ink which it could telekinetically move to form three-dimensional musical notes that matched to the myriad of music it sang at the suggestion of the audience or its owners. It was one of Fuller's first creations but was left behind and forgotten, causing it great sadness. Thankfully, it was eventually broken out from the Foundation by Icky who had grown alongside it and returned to the Circus, despite of MC&D's intervention.
  • Madame Rezarta and Her Amazing Palm Reader (SCP-1884): An elderly blind Albanian woman, SCP-1884-A, and an organism named Luana comprised of 932 hands, SCP-1884-B. SCP-1884-A has no hands, instead her wrist joints were fused together, and is mentally connected to SCP-1884-B which helped her by using its sense of touch to navigate, acting as a eye seeing dog. SCP-1884-B could shed it's skin akin to reptiles, and most of the hands comprising it appear to be the hands SCP-1884-A would have had, except for three other hands, belonging to an adolescent man, an adult woman and Bengal tiger, who severed some of its hands, causing SCP-1884-B to retaliate by using its nails to sever their own hands and integrate them to its body. The two were seemingly born together, but at a young age were abducted by Herman Fuller's Circus as one of their acts, and severely tortured when not performing well. Eventually, SCP-1884-B urged SCP-1884-A to finally escape at which point were contained by the Foundation.
  • Black Cotton Candy (SCP-1921): A cotton candy kiosk comprised of SCP-1921-A1, a sugar spinning device constructed by Sugarcomb Confections, SCP-1921-A2, the black cotton candy produced from it that when eaten it would unnoticeably integrate into the consumer's nervous system, SCP-1921-A3, a black liquid known as "Clown's Milk" that when eaten can increase its consumer's happiness to cardiac arrest, SCP-1921-B1, a calliope that produces a music that although not loud can be heard from kilometers away, and SCP-1921-B1, 11 rolls of perforated paper, each titled The Skater's Waltz, When You're Smiling, Officer of the Year, Doodle Dee Doo, Walkin' Happy, Hail! Hail! The Gang's All Here, American Patrol, For All and Forever, Comrades of the Legion, What D'Ya Mean You Lost Your Dog? and Upside-Down Cake that when inserted into the calliope it would produce specific songs. When a song is played in the vicinity of a person who consumed the cotton candy, they would either become happy, not consider lawbreaking actions as illegal, feel safe, euphoria to unconsciousness, gather together, force others to also consume the cotton candy, become sick until dying, or in rare cases form a balloon filled with glitter in the intestines. This was used by the Circus to take control of people, giving them a happy time, or if they were enemies to prevent them from catching them, but was left abandoned following a fire in a fairground in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
  • Amelia the Wonder Tiger (SCP-1931): A taxidermied head of a Bengal tiger filled with tar and outfitted with a mechanical hinge in its jaw to make it open and close. Its teeth when injuring someone would cause that individual to float in the air, the height depending on the severity of the injury, but after 30-35 hours at which point the individual would plummet to the ground. It was originally a living tiger born on February 24th of 1931 and named after Amelia Earhart taken under the care of Mr. Bernard Crawford who wanted to become famous which led to him join Herman Fuller's Circus. However, he and his tiger were at odds with other acts, and after the tiger's death Crawford took her remains and escaped.
  • The Musician Gnomes of Lagomia (SCP-1956): A group of 53 gnome-like creatures having the appearance of human infants covered in striped clothes and possessing tentacles on their heads. They can telepathically communicate between them and other individuals, change their bodies to form new limbs and swallow objects bigger than them or dangerous for them. They are also accompanied by sapient insectoid robotic musical instruments, designated SCP-1956-1. These creatures or gnomes originating from the fantastical and mysterious land of Lagom where physics don't work as expected and joined Herman Fuller's Circus after losing a bet with them.
  • Mixing Rod (SCP-2024): A red and colorful cane attached to a tag with "HF" written on it (SCP-2024-1). When used with the tag attached, it will be covered in yellow polka dots and gain the ability to phase itself into objects, at which point the user can stretch them in a elastic manner. If used without the tag, the cane would move on its own and attempt to stretch human beings. It was created by Herman Fuller's Prize Support as a product to sell to would-be sculptors.
  • Motormouth (SCP-2094): Formerly known as Barney the Bottomless Boy, is a man who can unhinge and stretch his bottom jam to insert anything into a small portal within his mouth which led to a pocket-dimension of infinite space. He was rescued as a child by Manny from his alcoholic single mother who kept him imprisoned in their home, and was taken into the Circus. He was happily raised, becoming an expert acrobat who would throw objects of different sizes in his mouth, and regurgitate larger objects such as countless Clowns. However, after learning that the recent children that Manny had taken in were brought against their will, Motormouth returned one of the children home, causing the rest of the Circus to lock him in a trunk for the Foundation to claim. As a result of this experience Motormouth suffered from amnesia and PTSD but with the help of the Foundation he got better.
  • Nandin the Human Skeleton Closet and Miles the Bonecat (SCP-2902): An Indian ventriloquist named Nandin Chakrabarti (SCP-2902-1) and his cat Miles (SCP-2902-2), who are both capable of separating their flesh from their skeletons. They can move move both their flesh and skeletons separately, though only Miles could control both parts simultaneously as Nandin had to switch his consciousness between parts. Nandin was raised by his greedy abusive uncle who forced him to perform for other people, causing Nandin to try escape several times, only to be recaptured by his uncle's men. In one of his escape attempts he befriended an Indian kitten he named Miles, and while visiting Herman Fuller's Circus they both tried to escape once again, only for his uncle to recapture him and kill Miles. The Circus staff saw the scene and wanting to recruit Nandin, they resurrected Miles, replacing his decayed fur, and broke the boy out of his uncle's house. Nandin and Miles worked for the Circus in the following years, until they were captured by the Foundation when he attempted to have a veterinarian checkup on his cat.
  • Clowny Clown Clown (SCP-2912): A group of three bred Clowns. The Foundation claimed them in a raid, alongside professional Clown breeder Dick C. Normus, but they eventually all died due to not being milked.
    • SCP-2912-1: A Clown with a spherical body, no bones, useless head and limbs, that could float like a balloon and make party horn sounds from its mouth.
    • SCP-2912-2: A tall spindly Clown with a spine shaped like a xylophone, a large and flat left hand, bloated abdomen, no eyes and lips, and a large mouth. By tapping on its various body parts, it could make strange emotional music.
    • SCP-2912-3: A mostly normal Clown with a contagious laughter that could manifest cream pies out of nowhere, seemingly by transmutating nearby matter.
  • Stretchy, Clown-Hunter Extraordinaire (SCP-3036): A humanoid Clown who had been subjected to a surgery done by Prometheus Labs to turn him into a Clown hunter that would prevent bred clowns from escaping. He lacks a nervous system, bone structure and reproductive system, and could stretch his body to various lengths and possessed regeneration. His body housed two smaller clowns, SCP-3036-A, who were failed experiments and were placed inside his body to keep them alive. After fighting with fellow Clown hunter Masky, Stretchy went to the Foundation for sanctuary.
  • Tillie's Terrifically Ticklish and Tremendously Thaumaturgical Treacle! (SCP-3077): A animated black treacle that forms legless deformed gaunt humanoids with a variable number of orifices in their heads designated SCP-3077-1. Upon being formed they would slide across the floor in search of humans to incapacitate them and enter their bodies which they pilot from within, turning them into SCP-3077-2 instances. They would use the human bodies to perform dances and songs for other humans present, all the while the hosts are still conscious until expiring from the inability to ingest any sustenance, forcing the treacle to leave the corpse and find a new host. They were Sugar Golems created by Carnival Confectionarian Saccharina Sweet as a new attraction for the Circus, originally named "Saccharina Sweet’s Sensationally Sublime Sugar Babies", but after the treacle attacked the spectators the Circus turned Saccharina and relinquished her along with her creations to the Foundation.
  • Mr. Playing Games Is Bad For Your Health (SCP-3245): A Mister Against Weed resembling a Cuban young man created by the Gamers Against Weed, who entire insides are comprise of board and chance-based games which secrets game pieces, causing severe discomfort in him. Its core was comprised of all twelve flavors with rotating colors, emulating the pride flag, and if consumed the consumer's words would be taken by listeners as literal truths for a small period of time.
  • The Marvellously Macabre Mechanical Marionette Matinee (SCP-3440): A facility beneath the Civic Opera Building in Chicago, Illinois which served for both entertainment and embalming that could only be seen and accessed by those who already knew of it. It's mainly comprised of a large theatre that stood above a mortuary where SCP-3440-A performed. SCP-3440-A are a number of cadavers that were turned into marionettes resembling the Circus' staff controlled by SCP-3440-B through metallic filaments infused into their bodies, and may still be conscious due to SCP-2718. SCP-3440-B is a indestructible cabinet that puppeteered the cadavers through a track system and could be controlled by the use of SCP-3440-C. SCP-3440-C is a control booth comprised of a number of black wax cylinders that can be placed into receptacle labeled 'thaumaphones' , transmitting electro-thaumic signals along the filaments and into SCP-3440-A to make them enact vaudeville performances. The cabinet also had a stage-facing device labelled an 'aetherscope' that could record live actions of other people onto a new SCP-3440-C instance for SCP-3440-A to follow, and if one cylinder held numerous actions then an analogue control panel could be used to select certain signals and grant more manual control over the cadavers. The facility was build by Fuller around late 1929, which was turned into his prison after he attempted to get his revenge on the Circus, resulting in the filaments of all SCP-3440-A instances to be severed.
    • Herman Fuller (SCP-3440-A1): The former ringmaster himself who had been disposed when attempting to kill Manny. After being banished by the Circus Fuller sought to exact revenge on them, but the Clowns led by Icky managed to defeat him. Killing him, though still conscious within his body, Icky and Manny turned him into an instance of SCP-3440-A, while freeing the other instances, which left Fuller as the sole cadaver to be puppeteered. He had his own wax cylinder, designated SCP-3440-C1, that allowed Fuller to talk to the Foundation personnel, but eventually he became inactive, now only observing the personnel and singing Pinocchio’s song "I've Got No Strings".

SCP-3717-01 is an intersex infant who has an opening in their head through which marbles were filled into it; SCP-3717-02 is a male infant missing the left side of his head and his vacant brain was replaced with a clump of dust; SCP-3717-03 is a pair of female conjoined twins fused at the head who lacks skin pigmentation and may have two consciousnesses. They are the children of Herman Fuller conceived accidentally when had he one night stands with random women, and wanting to not pay child support he had alchemist Zoltan abort them and turn them into undead fetuses, gaining a new attraction in the process. Originally they were meant to scare people, but when Icky took over from Fuller she urged the infants to display their hidden talent, that being singing barbershop songs.
  • Herman Fuller's Mind-Bending Mewling Monstrosities (SCP-3718): A species of extra-dimensional origin resembling large tripedal monsters with bioluminescent dark fur and various mouths throughout the body, and instead of eyes and ears possess large whiskers running across their bodies. Due to being alien to Earth's reality, humans are unable to perceive their true form, seeing them as normal domestic cats instead, though glimpses of their true appearance could be seen in their reflections on mirrors or when opening their mouths to eat. They are quite predatory as packs could eat prey as large as elks by killing them before regurgitating enzymes to breakdown the prey's body to make it easier to digest. These creatures were brought into this reality by Fuller who bought them from a interdimensional seller to use them as a new attraction, but lost several instances during the Circus' travels, causing SCP-3718 to become an invasive species that was driving several other animal species to extinction.

The reanimated carcass would form a bond with the relative, trying to interact with them in playful and theatrical manners and obey their every command. However, if placed on a human corpse, the reanimated body (SCP-3886-03) would announce H.Y.'s incoming performance. The stone in his forehead made it seem like he had a third eye and it mingled with his magic which prevent him from becoming a full proper alchemist. Trivia[]

  • The Circus of the Disquieting was originally created by author PepperGhost, but the group was properly developed by other authors such as DrChandra.
  • As noted in the "Dread & Circuses Hub", the Circus is effectively the complete opposite of the SCP Foundation, as wherein the Foundation actively hides anomalies from public view the Circus always displayed their anomalies for the people all over the world to marvel at.
  • The Circus, although clearly based on the various circuses from real-life, appears to be largely based on the famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
  • As stated in the tale "A Little Lollipop", Li'l Lollipop beared resemblance to Harley Quinn from DC Comics.
  • Jester the Goblin was originally an SCP which was about an evil goblin dressed as a jester. This article was soon downvoted to deletion due to the poor quality, and the concept was rewritten in the tale "A Jester's Tale".
    • Jester also didn't have anything to do with Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting, but the two were connected in SCP-1931.
  • There was a bit of controversy around Lolly as due to her excessive childish demeanor some readers thought that she was an actual child. Her author made it clear that she was in fact an adult. The tale "More of Fuller's Crap" established that she was twenty six years old.
  • In "It's Good to Touch the Green, Green Grass of Home" part of the "Aces and Eights" canon, a universe in which the SCP Foundation is set in the Old Wild West, the Circus was mostly the same. It once performed in Santa Fe, and displayed several other attractions the mainstream Circus didn't have such as SCP-6773, SCP-042, SCP-2019-J, SCP-529, SCP-346 and SCP-6366. Gary Pebbler and his friends saw how SCP-6773 was being mistreated and broke him free, causing him to be labeled a criminal taking the Circus' property.
  • In "Mundus, Liberari", in which the GOC is unrelated to the UN and the Foundation doesn't exist, the Circus was apparently destroyed, but Icky alongside other leaders from notable GoIs formed an organization known as Overwatch Council which was somewhat an analogue of the Foundation as their goals are to secure the innocent victims of the GOC, contain operatives of the GOC and protect those victims objects from the GOC since the latter has almost completely eradicated the anomalous world. The Circus was turned into a front for MTF training, which also trained SCP-166.
