Herod Antipas was a king of Galilee and Perea who, according to the Christain New Testament, ordered the execution of John the Baptist and mocked Jesus Christ before his death. He was the son of Herod the Great. His wife was his niece Herodias.
He even appeared as a minor antagonist in "Jesus Christ Superstar" (and the only one who has no sympathy; in fact, he's a total jerk), in which he is played by Josh Mostel in the 1973 film and Rik Mayall in the 2000 film. According to his song, he tries to talk Jesus into doing miracles (especially fill his household with bread while on His own head), but calls him a fraud when He doesn't answer and throws him out "of [his] life".
