“ | Hideous Masses are a rare occurrence, when an excessive amount of Hell Mass is poured into a single shell, causing it to overflow and burst at the seams. Due to the broken seams allowing for mobility without having to bend the exterior, the stone has hardened more than the shell of most demons, making it completely impervious to all currently known attacks. | „ |
~ The Hideous Masses' terminal description. |
The Hideous Masses are large scorpion-like demons covered in stone armor that are minor antagonists in Ultrakill. A member of the race originally appears in the layer of Limbo as the boss of "Halls of Sacred Remains", but on very rare occasions, it is treated as a regular enemy. They are classified as Greater Demons and debut in Level 1-3, "Halls of Sacred Remains".
Appearance[]
The armor of Hideous Masses is made up several stone "faces" of various size, with these mask-like growths also covering its lobster-like tail. Alongside this, this biological armor also coats its arms and eight legs, the latter of which is designed to look like human feet. To attack, Hideous Masses possess two humanoid mouths on the end of its arms, while its tail possesses a harpoon-like barb protruding from the mouth of one of their "faces".
History[]
The Hideous Mass has the special property of being able to swap from an upright form to a laying form, switching between at will. The upright form is seen as the default appearance of the beast, while the laying form is a position formed to protect its stomach. While the creature is largely immune to V1's attacks, its stomach and tail provide the weakpoints needed to deal damage.
To attack, Hideous Masses can shoot balls of energy up into the air, slam its claws onto the floor, and fire its barb as a projectile.
