The sky will crack, and through the crack in the sky, the ch'khalagu will come ravening. You know about the Thousand Days of Pain. The streets will be slick with entrails of half-devoured corpses. ~ Narek talking about the prophecy involving these beings.
Higher Synthetics are the overarching antagonists from the first season of Star Trek: Picard.
The Higher Synthetics are ancient synthetic beings that seem to exist beyond space and time. They are hugely feared by the Romulans, being that they are capable of ending all organic life in the galaxy, which it seems they have done in the past.
They seem to care about the other synthetic life forms, as they left behind instructions on how to summon them in case the common synthetics are in danger and need help. Unfortunately, this "help" involves purging the entire galaxy of all organic life, as the only way to ensure that they do not pose a threat to synthetic life forms.
History
How these beings were created remains a mystery, but the Romulans believe that they were around since the beginning of time, and have caused many apocalypses.
To help other synthetics, they left behind instructions on how to summon them, these instructions were named "Admonition".
At the end of the season, Soji was about to summon them but thanks to Picard's words she backed off and did not end up doing it.
Trivia

Because they pose a threat to the entire galaxy, the Synthetics can rank among the most powerful villains in the franchise, second only to beings like Q
