Appearance[]

Personality[]

Biography[]
In "The Tale of Fred the Horse", it was revealed that the highwayman had encountered Fred in what was supposedly St. Leonard's Bridge. Apparently, he robbed a stranger, who crossed the bridge due to a mix-up of Fred's words, of his cart and clothes. He made Fred give him everything he had too then threatened him into not telling anyone about him. Eventually, after being put on trial by the true owner of the things he had, Fred couldn't take it anymore. However, the judge revealed that the nearest highwayman had died when St. Leonard's Bridge collapsed over a century ago. Fred ran away before he could be sentenced to hard labor. Returning to the bridge, he was found by the highwayman who knew that he spilled the beans. The highwayman refused to say whether what they said about him is true, then he took Fred as his horse, and he became his partner in committing robberies.
At some point, the highwayman decided to stay in a tavern where the people for some reason didn't care about how he made a living. He seemed to enjoy himself there, drinking and singing enthusiastically. However, while he was in the tavern, Fred was stolen and eventually given to Quincy Endicott to have a better life.
Trivia[]
- During his song, the camera takes the characteristics of a fisheye lens.
- In slang, a "Highwayman" is a criminal who steals from travelers.
- While implied to be a ghostly spirit, there is also a chance that the highwayman and the other people in the tavern are in fact toys. A child would usually say the names of the occupations of the toys when playing with them.
