The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers are the cyclops-themed Minor Youkai of the Youkai Army Corps serving Oonyuudou and minor antagonists in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger; serving as the secondary antagonists of the season's movie. They consist of two Youkai; an older dark green and tall one and his younger lighter green smaller brother.
The elder brother was voiced by Kaoru Shinoda who also voiced Jade Mask in Himitsu Sentai Goranger and the younger brother was voiced by the late Takeshi Watabe who previously voiced Inazuma Ginga in Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan, Emperor Aton in Kagaku Sentai Dynaman, Don Horror, God Neros and Emperor Gaohm in the Metal Heroes franchise, the Creation King in Kamen Rider BLACK and Waruder in Kikaider 01. Thier human forms were played by prolific Super Sentai suit actors Hideaki Kusaka (elder brother) and Hirofumi Ishigaki (younger brother) respectively although they were dubbed over by Shinoda and Watabe.

Past[]
The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers first came to be when humanity's negative emotions physically manifested and formed thier own group under the leadership of the most powerful of thier kind; Daimaou. The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers were originally benevolent trickster Youkai playing harmless pranks on humans but eventually turned evil like the rest of thier kind. Six thousand years ago, the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers were among the army of Yokai who attacked Ninjaman whilst he defended a village. Tsuchigumo was evidently able to escape alive but Ninjaman was banished by the Three God Generals as he slaughtered his entire village after mistaking them for Yokai.
The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers was ultimately among the Yokai who managed to avoid being sealed behind the Seal Door by the Ancient Kakurangers but was reduced to a human form when the Yo Power was sealed with Daimaou.
Kakuranger[]
By 1994, the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers have evolved into punk-like forms by the time that the Yo Power is released by Kappa. After they regains thier powers, they and Oonyuudou begin shrinking houses down to miniature size for Oonyuudou to play with like a model.
Shortly after the defeat of Bakeneko, Oonyuudou decides that he wants to create his own town of Youkai so sends the the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers to terrorise people. However, one of the houses they want to shrink has a special guardian protecting it from enchantments that will eject any Youkai in the building so Oonyudou orders the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers to find a way to get rid of it. The Brothers are first seen in human form trying to scare the children living there into getting rid of the "cursed" statue. When the two refuse, the Brothers invade the house; making a phone call where the elder brother's tongue sticks out from the receiver, levitating random objects, appearing in thier true forms on the TV, manifesting arms from a wall and trying to pull Sirose through a trapdoor to try and scare them into giving over the doll. However, the panicked screams attract the attention of the passing Kakurangers who break in just as the statue ejects the Brothers so the Youkai flee. Although they escape to the quarry, they are stopped by caltrops and confronted by the ninja. They try to obliterate the Kakurangers but they dodge and morph although the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers are easily able to then defeat them. However, the Kakurangers use the Art of Duplication attack to dodge it and strike down the Brothers with thier personal weapons so the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers flee after being shot by Jiraya's Black Bow.
Upon returning to Oonyuudou, they get a tongue lashing but appease him by complimenting his stolen town before being sent to kidnap Shigeru to make Yumiko give them the statue. They soon manage this by scaring him out with snakes in the sink and kidnap him before delivering thier ultimatum on television. The two succeed in forcing her to dispose of the doll which allows Oonyuudou to shrink the house along with Tsuruhime and Hirose much to the Youkai's delight. When the other Kakurangers come to rescue Tsuruhime and the children, Oonyuudou traps them in a cage to cook them alive to later eat but they escape by Sasuke turning into a fire extinguisher and using the Cage Escape technique. When the Youkai investigate, they end up trapped in thier own cage but break free and confront the Kakurangers in the quarry with an army of Dorodoros.
Though the Dorodoros are easily killed, the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers attack Sasuke but are overwhelmed by his Art of the Doppelganger attack and have to be saved by Oonyuudou. Although they then trap the Kakurangers in a fire dimension and strike them down with katanas, the elder Hitotsume Kozou Brother is killed by Sasuke's Shark Driver. The younger Hitotsume Kozou Brother survives though so an enraged Oonyuudou enlarges both of them to get revenge and the Kakurangers summon the Beast General Fighters. The Hitotsume Kozou Brother has the upper-hand until he is thrown around by Yellow Kumard's Kumard Claw. Overpowered, the younger Hitotsume Kozou Brother becomes a football for Oonyuudou to kick into the mecha but the younger Hitotsume Kozou Brother is then killed by Red Saruder's Red Slicer.
The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers are seen, along with all the other defeated Yokai, behind the Seal Door after Daimaou is finally sealed away by the Kakurangers. Reeling that they are now powerless in captivity, the Yokai all vow that they will one day be reborn and regain their power, cursing humanity.
Personality[]
True to thier Youkai basis, the Hitotsume Kozou Brothers were mischievous pranksters but were far more malicious than thier base legends. They were psychopathic and vile creatures who terrorised two small children for thier master and even later tried to boil them alive. Despite this, they were extremely incompetent cowards though they were intensely loyal to Oonyudou.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers were able to take down the Kakurangers with single punches and slaps and the older brother could restrain and toss away Tsuruhime with ease.
- Durability: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers were sliced by Sasuke's Red Slicer, stabbed by Tsuruhime's White Beak, and shot by Jiraya's Black Bow but survived all. They even survived being hit by the Kakuremaru Thunder Wave without a scratch.
- Depth Perception: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers possessed proper depth perception despite being cyclopses.
- Longevity: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers survived for at least six thousand years with no side effects.
- Human Forms: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers could assume the forms of a thin and lanky man and a balding middle aged man by fading in and out of existence.
- Expert Fighters: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers were able to fight and defeat the Kakurangers with thier bare hands.
- Manifestations: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers could generate themselves on TV, in a trapdoor and arms emerging from the wall.
- Levitation: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers could make random objects throughout the house levitate in the air.
- Suction: The wall arms could suck Shigeru towards them as if by magic.
- Teleportation: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers could teleport to any location at will by fading in and out of existence.
- Instant Teleportation: The younger Hitotsume Kozou Brother's teleportation ability also allowed him to instantly teleport around the battlefield quickly enough to avoid slashes from Sasuke and Jiraya's Kakuremaru.
- Sibling Power: The Hitotsume Kozou Brothers could reach both of thier hands forward and fire an invisible energy blast. This was strong enough to knock down the unmorphed Kakurangers but they were unfazed.
- Agility: The itotsume Kozou Brothers were able to flip over all five Kakurangers with single jumps.
- Tail Lash: The elder Hitotsume Kozou Brother could swing his tail with enough force to take down Tsuruhime, Saizou and Seikai with a single strike.
- Hair Strike: The younger Hitotsume Kozou Brother could launch his long hair to restrain his enemies and throw them around.
- One-Eye Beam: The elder Hitotsume Kozou Brother could launch his eye out of his head into the sky and have it rain down energy spirals on the enemy. This caused a massive explosion but the Kakurangers avoided it with the Art of Replacement technique.
- Football Transformation: The younger Hitotsume Kozou Brother could curl up into a ball and become a massive metal football for Oonyuudou to kick into his enemies.
