The Hobo is a supporting character in the animated cartoon series The Amazing World of Gumball. He is a panhandler who tries to earn money which turns out successful, out of thievery or just luck.

He was voiced by Dan Russell, who voiced also Tina Rex in the same series and Cragger from LEGO: Legends of Chima.

Appearance[]

The Hobo is a furry humanoid. He is covered in brown fur enough for it to almost cover his eyes, he also has purple noticeable bags under them, a reddish nose and a bushy tail. The Hobo's attire consists of an olive brown trench coat, and a grayish brown fedora. Under the trench coat, he wears a suit. The suit consists of a red waistcoat with a white shirt and black pants.

Biography[]

The Hobo is first seen in the show sitting outside of a store waiting to be given money in "The DVD". He asked Gumball and Darwin Watterson that the reason they were on the streets was because they were trying to get money for a broken DVD. After they answer yes, the Hobo swapped his hat with theirs which had 3 dollars inside. When Gumball tried to get it back, the Hobo started growling which soon turned into a beatbox sort of freestyle. After Gumball and Darwin earn another dollar for their freestyle, the Hobo took it along with their three dollars and walked into the store to buy a scratch card. After he told the boys that he became a millionaire after winning the scratch card he spent with their money, they asked him for half their money back but the Hobo lied and said that he didn't have any change and walked away with money being heard in his pockets.

The Hobo's second appearance as an antagonist is in the episode, "The Castle", where he's first seen roasting a turkey in a can of fire. The second time he's seen in the episode he's informing Richard Watterson that he would have some "friends" over which turned out to be a pack of rats, furthering the mess of the Watterson home. The next time he's seen in the episode he has on Gumball's outfit. Gumball tells him that it's his but the Hobo replied saying, "Not anymore!" and laughs. After Gumball made a statement to the people of Elmore, which they thought they had freedom at the Watterson house, they ,including the Hobo, throw them out of their own house and when Darwin pointed out it was the family's home, the trespassers reply with, "Not anymore!". After a couple attempts to no avail, Gumball had another idea (unlocking the door with Richard's credit card). While Gumball spoke to Richard, the Hobo was able to take the credit card from through the crack of the door; him and the rats taunt Gumball as he ordered two thousand boxes of pizza. The Wattersons had another idea; they disguised as pizza delivery boys (Gumball posed as the man, Darwin held Gumball up to make him taller while Richard hid in the boxes). The plan worked as Richard finally told the trespassers to get out of their home, but they all intimidate him and they end up getting thrown out of their house again. When Nicole Watterson arrived, she told the trespassers to clean the house and never return. Harold Wilson tried to test her but Nicole gave him a penance stare. Upon seeing this, all the trespassers including the Hobo quickly clean the house, frightened of the sight.

He makes a short antagonistic role in "The Pizza". First, the Wattersons were on their way to Elmore to apologize to Larry Needlemeyer but their gas was seemingly stolen by an unknown individual. Once Gumball brought up that people didn't just steal the gas, a mob of looters including the Hobo stole each and every part of the car until there was nothing left of it. This was done after Larry went out of business and everything was apocalyptic.

He makes a cameo appearance in "The Sale" as he's seen resting in Gaylord and Margaret Robinson bathtub. It looks likely that the Hobo broke into their home without them knowing or that Gumball and Darwin paid him to help sabotage the sale.

This episode doesn't entirely count as an antagonistic role but in "The Vegging", he's seen as a mutant attacking a scientist.
