Biography[]
Hoffman and Fensky were fellow officers in the Philadelphia Police Force who were close friends of Mike Ehrmantraut, with Hoffman also being the partner of Matt Ehrmantraut, Mike's son. The two were heavily involved in profiting from gang activity, and sometime during or before August 2001, Hoffman offered Matt some of his dirty money. However, Hoffman and Fensky soon became worried that Matt would report their sleazy business to their superiors, and devised a plan to murder Matt. Although they initially got away with the crime, Mike became suspicious and launched his own investigation into the matter, finding out the truth.
In March 2002, Mike confronted Hoffman and Fensky at a bar and exposed their crimes. The duo later disarmed Mike and took him away in a police cruiser. Fensky questioned Mike on what he meant, to which he drunkenly confirmed he knew about their murder of Matt. Realizing they were close to being caught, Fensky ordered Hoffman to drive to an isolated part of the city.
The cops proceeded to throw Mike out of the vehicle and Fensky managed to convince Hoffman that Mike needed to die. However, Mike, who had been faking his alcoholism, pulled out a second gun he had hidden in the car and turned it on his former friends. Fensky tried to shoot Mike with the pistol he had taken off him earlier, but it was purposely unloaded, allowing Mike to retaliate. Hoffman was killed instantly by a bullet to the head, while Fensky was incapacitated and attempted to crawl away. When Mike stopped his retreat, Fensky pleaded for mercy, but Mike pulled his trigger, killing Fensky and avenging Matt's death.
