The Holy Book Unicorns are the titular main antagonists of the in-universe mythology of the teddy bear civilization in Unicorn Wars.
Despite the unicorns generally being genial creatures that only harm others when provoked (typically when one of their own kind is killed or the Magical Forest is significantly damaged), the mythology within the teddy bear society portrays them as barbaric unicorns that stole the Magical Forest from them, and must be killed as a result, a story perpetuated by their leadership. Said mythology also claims that the Devil had once taken the form of a unicorn, further serving as justification for killing them all.
Biography[]
Glimpses of the bears' religion, heavily implied to be propaganda built off of the scripture of the Simians, and enforced by the military's leadership, are given at various points of the movie. Said religion gives insight on their beliefs surrounding both the unicorns and their place in the Magical Forest.
According to the bears' religion, all creatures once lived in the Magical Forest peacefully until the Teddy Bears stumbled upon a church which contained a holy book. From obtaining this holy book, the bears had supposedly gained advanced knowledge, allowing them to build a civilization within the Magical Forest. Said religion also claims that God had chosen them to be the supreme race as a result of this.
The holy book also claims that the unicorns became envious of the Teddy Bear's newfound knowledge and had decided to kill them in order to obtain the forest for themselves, starting the war between both parties. After the unicorns had killed a large portion of the bears, the remaining ones were supposedly exiled out of the forest, where they continued to build upon their civilization.
It is stated in the holy books that as a result of this, the unicorns had put a "curse" on the forest, and that only by killing every unicorn that currently inhabits it, God can return and grant the "chosen one", the one who kills the last unicorn and drinks their blood, godhood.
Trivia[]
- The original English trailer for the movie has Maria's mother, while being sacrificed in the Simians' church, state that she had seen the Beast, implying that the unicorns would have indeed been connected to the Devil in the film's setting. For whatever reason, this was cut in the final film.
