The Holy Fiends are the main antagonists fought in Makai Toushi SaGa/Final Fantasy Legend, they are beasts based on the four constallation animals from chinese mythology and servants of Ashura.

Gen-Bu is a fiend that emerges from the Statue of Hero after the heroes manage to find the Sword, Shield and Armor - seemingly brought into existence to destroy the heroes the fiend fought them next to the Statue of Hero but was defeated and seemingly destroyed. Defeating Gen-Bu grants the heroes the first of the magic spheres, which they use to open the first door - climbing a tower to reach the second world: in this regard Gen-Bu can be seen as a guardian of sorts as well as a more conventional demon.

Sei-Ryu is a draconic fiend who resides in the undersea castle, he confronts the heroes after they enter his castle and take the red orb which he guards over - defeating him allows the heroes to progress further up the tower and enter the third world of the game.

Byak-Ko is a powerful fiend encountered when the heroes try to save a girl named Mileille on behalf of her sister, Jeanne, only for it to be revealed that she had been working with him all along into ambushing the heroes - however instead of killing the heroes outright Byak-Ko opts for imprisoning them instead. However the heroes easily break free of the prison and use a flying machine to pursue him: catching up with him just as he gloats over obtaining the White Sphere, he then attempts to kill Mileille as she is of no further use to him but Jeanne leaps in to absorb the blow: the heroes then quickly battle the monster, however they are unable to kill him and the fiend decides to leave: thinking he had the White Sphere, however it is revealed that the Sphere he had was actually a fake: the real Sphere only being obtained when Jeanne shed a dying tear - the heroes proceeded to use this sphere to progress further up the tower and entire the fourth world of the game.

Su-Zaku is a bird-like fiend, when first encountered he is invincible and had taken to terrorising the world, however after a series of quests the heroes manage to build a machine to neutralize the bird's great power: they proceed to track Su-Zaku down into a subway and defeat the weakened fiend in order to get the fourth sphere: which allowed them to travel to the very top of the tower.
