Hordak subsequently appears physically as the main antagonist of the first half of ''Masters of the Universe: Revolution''. His army invades Eternia after sending Skeletor in the guise of Keldor, Randor's older half-brother to take the place of king of Eternos following Randor's recent death. It is later revealed that many years before, Hordak rescued Keldor from exile on a warring island and took him in as a protégé until he gave him the Havoc Staff, transforming Keldor into Skeletor in the process. Hordak subsequently abandoned Skeletor who had just been captured by the Royal Guard during the attempted kidnapping of the King and Queen's children, with Hordak making Skeletor forget his life as Keldor as well as their meeting. Skeletor would eventually find his memories erased and drunk with rage at having been and still being a pawn, kills Motherboard and confronts Hordak in a brutal fight in the royal palace. Hordak gains the upper hand thanks to his superior knowledge of technology but Skeletor ends up submit him by combining his Havoc magic and the technological mutation he has undergone. As Skeletor mocks Hordak's inability to understand magic, Hordak states that he should have left him to die on the island a long time ago, calling him Keldor one last time before Skeletor forever disowns his old name and stabs Hordak in the chest. Hordak survived, placed in a healing chamber by a loyalist warrior promising him that when he recovers, they will get rid of Skeletor and He-Man.

Asked what he wants by Evil-Lyn, Hordak replies that he wants her as a herald to announce the arrival of his people. Each of you is so sure you're not only going to fight me, but that you might even triumph as well. And ultimately, each of you always discovers I never do my own fighting. I hire well.
~ Hordak's monologue.

Hordak subsequently appears physically as the main antagonist of the first half of Masters of the Universe: Revolution.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Netflix

Evil-Lyn: What is the meaning of this? You're mine! You obey me!
Hordak: Consider me an independent thinker, much like yourself.
Evil-Lyn: What do you want?
Hordak: A herald. Someone to announce the coming of my people.
Evil-Lyn: I am no one servant.
Hordak: Of course you aren't. You're my equal...daughter.
~ Hordak meeting Evil-Lyn, announcing his plans to bring his people to Eternia and revealing to her that he is her father.
Hordak Evil-Lyn

Hordak meeting his daughter, Evil-Lyn.

Hordak appears at the end of the third season, having first appeared as Evil-Lyn's spirit bat, Horakoth. After taking the young witch away from an all-powerful Skeletor who would nearly transform the universe into her image if the Masters of the Universe hadn't defeated him, Hordak reveals himself to Evil-Lyn who mistakes him for her own creation until the mysterious individual defines himself as a being independent of her. Asked what he wants by Evil-Lyn, Hordak replies that he wants her as a herald to announce the arrival of his people. When she declares herself a servant of no one, Hordak calls her an equal before revealing to her that she is his daughter.

I must learn to control my rocket form better. Where could I be? Castle Grayskull! by Horde world! I'm back on Eternia!
~ Hordak back to Eternia after many years.
Hordak: It's changed since last I was here could it be that my old pupil is still here? [Inside] Ah, my old throne room!
Skeletor: My throne room now, old "friend".
Hordak: Skeletor! How good to see you again.
Skeletor: What brings you to Eternia after all this time?
Hordak: I came after a traitor to the Horde and it looks like I found one. [Launches his flame thrower at Skeletor but Skeletor retorts with an icy ray.] You've improved since last we saw each other, my pupil.
Skeletor: More than after deal with you my old teacher. [Collapses the ceiling over him.] I've done it, I've sent him back to his dimension. I've done…
Hordak: [Steps out of the ground.] Did you think to defeat your old mentor so easily Skeletor.
Skeletor: When I through you…
Hordak: Wait, it's stupid for us to fight like this.
Skeletor: You left me alone in the hands of our enemies.
Hordak: And you betrayed me to those same enemies. I say we are even.
Skeletor: Mmm, perhaps you're right but Eternia is mine to conquer now. I won't let the Horde have it.
Hordak: The Horde has not interest in this world anymore. I'm only here to capture the traitor I told you about.
Skeletor: This…traitor? who is it?
Hordak: It isn't a he…it's a She. It is the baby I took from Randor. Princess Adora.
Skeletor: What?
Hordak: Enough! Now, for the last time help me capture Adora and return to the world I came from. And I leave you in peace, otherwise…
Skeletor: Your threats don't scare me but I'll help you if only I thought you'd see it in my way.
Hordak: You know Skeletor?, your evil almost the match for my own. Together we'll make the life miserable for those Eternians fools. I'll be just like the old days!
Skeletor: Yes, yes… just…like the old days!
~ Hordak making an alliance with his former pupil, Skeletor.
Hordak: What? Who turned off the Beam?
Skeletor: I did, Hordak!
Hordak: SKELETOR!!! You treacherous turncoat two-faced traitor. Since when did you star helping the Rebellion?
Skeletor: The Rebellion means nothing to me, Hordak, and I help no one but myself! And speaking of helping myself, I inted to help myself to this ship.
Hordak: Oh you do, do you? Where you'll have to take it from me! [Turn his arm into a blaster cannon]
Skeletor: I had anticipated that, that is. So if that's the way you want it, then that's the way you gat it! [Skeletor shoots a beam with the Havoc Staff but Hordak turns his other arm into a shield]
Hordak: Nice try, Bone-Face. But have some of mine. [The two keep shooting at each other] You blasted blue bungler, take that!
Skeletor: Haha! Getting rusty, Hordak? Try this!
~ Hordak and Skeletor fighting during Horde Prime Take a Holiday.

Masters of the Universe: Revolution

Hordak: You left yourself open, Acolyte. I could have easily killed you.
Keldor: Oh, what's the point of this? I'll never win against you. You're too strong for me.
Hordak: Fighting me is how you get stronger. Before you can accomplish your goal, you will have to battle foes at least as capable as I am.
Keldor: But how will this help me take back my kingdom? I thought I was going to learn to use magic.
Hordak: You will. But never forget, magic is a cheat. Of use from time to time, yes, but it will never make you strong. The might of the Horde was built with technology. And he who masters technology masters the universe.
Heads will roll, Acolyte. And soon, you will learn what all the universe will come to know...I am Hordak, conquest incarnate. So let this be our final battle!
Everything you know, I taught you, Acolyte, so there's no move you can make I haven't already anticipated.
The Horde will never follow you. Not until you fully embrace your power. Take it! [...] Ha'vok is an ancient, powerful magic that has lain dormant, waiting for someone who was born to wield such power. Waiting for you. Take it and unlock your destiny. Take it. Take it and be reborn into the ravenous maw of Ha'vok!
Hordak: You're a fool if you think you can beat me with my own technology. I am as much its master as I am yours.
Skeletor: This is Eternia. Technology is only half the battle.
Hordak: No!
Skeletor: You hate magic because you don't understand it. That's why you've always needed an acolyte to wield magic on your behalf. You used to know that, but you forgot it. And while the Havoc Staff showed me how to tap into dark magic, it's not the only source of power in the universe.
Hordak: I should have left you to die on that filthy island, Keldor.
Skeletor: My name is...Skeletor!

Trivia

  • Hordak's face was modeled after an African witch doctor's mask.
  • His full name (Hec-Tor Kur) was revealed in the Masters of the Universe Classics toy line.
  • Although Skeletor is the main antagonist of the whole series, Hordak is the Bigger Bad of the series as he was Skeletor's mentor and more evil than him as he defeated King Hiss and his Snakemens and he killed King Grayskull and in some Masters of the Universe projects he is the main villain while Skeletor was a henchman. Horde Prime, however, was the true Bigger Bad of the entire Masters of the Universe franchise as the master of Hordak. Hordak would later become the main villain of the She-Ra series.
  • Hordak is the second primary antagonist of the Masters of the Universe franchise, the first being Skeletor.
  • Hordak also appears in the comics prequel to Masters of the Universe: Revelation. His physical appearance is similar to his appearance in the comics.
  • The 2022 incarnation of Hordak was one of Kevin Conroy's final roles before his death.
