| ~ The Hornet as she fights Ladybug. |
The Hornet is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Carver) of the 2022 action comedy film Bullet Train, based on Kōtarō Isaka's 2010 dark comedic thriller novel Maria Beetle.
She is an assassin known for her usage of a snake poison, hired by the White Death to infiltrate into a bullet train, kill his son and steal his briefcase. The Hornet was also responsible for the death of the Wolf's wife, leading him to go into the train to find her.
She was portrayed by Zazie Beetz in her first villainous role, who also played Bo in Black Mirror, and voiced Diane Foxington/The Crimson Paw in The Bad Guys.
Biography[]
In the past, the Hornet was assigned to assassinate the leader of a Mexican drug cartel named El Saguaro, killing an entire wedding party, except for one man, named the Wolf. The Wolf's wife was also among the dead, so he swears revenge on her. She also kills a neurosurgeon just before he was set to operate on the White Death's dying wife, causing the White Death to hire her and get her on the bullet train, so she can be killed by other assassins.
When infiltrating the train, the Hornet disguises herself as a mascot named Momonga and kills the White Death's son as her client demands. She has a short brawl with Ladybug, who are both trying to get the White Death's suitcase, but is knocked out with a punch in the face.
A little later, the Hornet disguises herself as a train crew member and ambushes Ladybug once again. They get into a fight before Ladybug injects her with her own poison syringe right after he himself is poisoned. She tries to give herself the antivenom, but Ladybug uses it and Hornet is killed by her own poison. Afterwards Ladybug positioned her corpse across from the Wolf’s to make it look like she was intoxicated just like the former. Her corpse likely remained in the bar wagon and was presumably damaged when the bullet train crashes in the end. Ladybug also uses her Momonga costume to cushion himself when the bullet train derailed and crashed.
Trivia[]
- The Hornet’s death in the film is similar to the Wolf’s. Both attack Ladybug in the same car of the bullet train and end up getting killed by Ladybug by their own weapons albeit unintentionally (dagger for the Wolf and Boomslang venom for the Hornet).
