Hornet Man is a Robot Master and an antagonist in Mega Man 9 who appears as a minor antagonist and boss. Resembling a sentient beehive with a humanoid head and limbs, he bears the serial number DLN-070. Hornet Man was created to pollinate the flowers. His special weapon is the Hornet Chase, which is a small robotic hornet drone that flies from Hornet Man to attack foes near him.
Biography[]
Hornet Man and his siblings were scheduled to be scrapped when their period of use had expired. At this, Dr. Wily felt concerned, so he offered to repair them. However, Wily had other intentions that were hidden behind his mask of kindness. Following this, Hornet Man and his siblings found themselves serving Wily.
Upon their defeat, the Robot Masters were rebuilt. Hornet Man is seen watering the flowers with Beat's help.
Battle[]
During his battle, Hornet Man fires his Hornet Chasers to chase Mega Man. His weakness, the Magma Bazooka, can destroy the Hornet Chasers and plow through and strike him if it is charged enough. The Black Hole Bomb can also neutralize Hornet Man's Hornet Chasers despite not being his actual weakness.

Trivia[]
- Hornet Man was not originally going to be in the game. A female Robot Master named Honey Woman would have taken his place with a similar weapon, but Keiji Inafune scrapped her inclusion due to his preference of a female Robot Master being in the sea as a mermaid, which is how Splash Woman came to be. (This is also why Ocean Man, who resembled Neptune, was scrapped.)
- Another insect-themed Robot Master named Sting Man was planned, but he was scrapped, too. His weapon would have also been the same or similar.
- Honey Woman is reincarnated as Vesper Woman in the Mega Man Archie Comics, with her origin being an unused prototype design that Doctor Light had on his mind.
