Horsemen of Apocalypse (X-Men: Evolution)

	~ Apocalypse awakens the Horsemen to protect the pyramids.

The Horsemen of Apocalypse are the secondary antagonists of the two-part series finale of X-Men Evolution. They are a group of mutant warriors that were forced to serve Apocalypse.

History[]

Apocalypse captured various mutants such as Magneto, Xavier, Storm and Mystique, placing them within hibernation pods (in the form of Egyptian Pillars) to alter their minds and bodies to serve him as their horsemen.

Mystique who was turned into stone in the third season when trying to bring Apocalypse back, was later killed when Rogue pushed her stone form off a cliff and causing her form to shatter.

Magneto around the same time, tried to fight Apocalypse, when Apocalypse emerged out of hiding, but Apocalypse quickly makes work of Magneto and causes him to disintegrated from existence.

Then Xavier who tries to confront Apocalypse along with Storm in Egypt to stop a new upgraded Apocalypse, are also eradicated as well.

But in actuality, it is revealed that Apocalypse kept them all alive, and altered their minds and bodies, placing them in chambers within his pyramids. When Apocalypse's pyramids where under attack by the Sentinels, Apocalypse summons, Xavier, Storm, Magneto and Mystique to attack the Sentinels, in multiple countries resulting in the X-men, Brotherhood, and Acolytes to all attack them in a divide and conquer event. While Rogue absorbs Apocalypse who was inside a chamber to restore his powers, Rogue manages to stop Apocalypse and his chamber machine sends him to an unknown point of reality, his hold against the Horsemen of Apocalypse are severed, and the four all return to normal.

Xavier then reveals that while he was freed from Apocalypse's control, he managed to showcase a possible future where he, Magneto, and Storm all attempt to led a new future, with a new generation of mutants.

Mystique's fate is ultimately unknown, as she tried to apologize to her children, Rogue and Nightcrawler, that ignored her attempts to start over with them.

Appearance[]

Each of the horsemen are shown with various blue tech enhancements, similar to Apocalypse, indicating he was making them look similar to him. They all had shaded blue eye pupils, and most of their outfits are damaged or ripped.

Trivia[]

Unlike many versions of the Horsemen, these are members that founded or became enemies of the X-Men.
- Also Angel doesn't become a member either, as him and Apocalypse never met in the series.

The Horsemen are never referred to as their traditional names such as: War, Death, Famine, and Pestilence.
Apocalypse refers to them as "My Horsemen" once in Ascension Part 1.
The concept of Magneto and Storm becoming members of the Horsemen of Apocalypse possibly inspired the creators of the X-Men Apocalypse film, as Magneto and Storm also become members in that film as well.
Xavier mentions in the final episode of the series that with the help of Apocalypse, was able to foresee future events for a possible season 5, however it remains unknown if Storm, Magneto and Mystique were given this ability as well.

Apocalypse was shown to have altered the members of the Horsemen's powers and abilities:
- Professor Xavier minus his wheelchair, now able to stand and even fly is seen several times fighting Jean Grey with a ability similar to Psylocke's, upon having a spear ability.
- Mystique is shown to summon weapons, not just turning into animals or other humanoid characters.
- Storm is able to channel thunder, rain and sleet than prior to the series finale.
- Magneto was able to display the ability to manipulate gravity, force fields.
