Biography[]
Kisaragi made his first appearance on the 70th floor of the Nishitamashi Twin Towers where it was revealed that he is Mio Tokiwa's art instructor who Kogoro recognize as the artist who painted numerous paintings of Mt Fuji. Kisaragi then told Mio he had to go with Mio saying she'll go with him, but he declined. Kogoro wondered why he was mad, and Hidehiko Kazama told him that Mio bought his work and started selling them for a nice profit, which made him angry.
At night on the hotel side of the twin buildings, Kisaragi (in "The Criminal" Shadow appearance) appeared in front of Iwamatsu Oki and killed him by stabbing him in the chest. At the Police Station, A photo of Kisaragi is shown as he is marked as one of the suspects to have killed Oki.
Later that evening at Kisaragi home on the top of a hill where he is seen painting as Conan and the other Interrogate him about the murder Oki but Kirsaragi yelled at them and telling them that children like them shouldn't be involved with detective work but not wanting to let them go empty handed, he gave each of the kid's paintings of them.
On the night of the grand opening of the Nishitamashi Twin Towers, Kisaragi is then seen viewing Mt. Fuji then walked away as Ran and Sonoko looked at the view. Then Mio announced a number game where the winner would win a new car, and one of the rules is that no one is allowed to have any watches to help them win the number game, in which Kisaragi refuse to play as he doesn't own a watch and don't want to win the game, in which Kogoro won by accident by a crying baby. Kisaragi is then asked to be on stage as an announcer called everyone attention and showed off Kisaragi's paintings of Mt Fuji, along with a newest one that he gave to Mio. However, the revealing of the new paint turn Grim as it was shown that Mio was hanged while covering up the painting, shocking everyone. This caused Kogoro and Conan to run on stage as he orders Mio body to be put down and the curtain close.
Kirsaragi, along with Hidehiko Kazama are named suspect in the murder of Mio as it was shown that both him, Mio and Kazama were standing next to each other while Chinami had to operate the curtains. She explains that Kirsaragi was with her when the painting arrived and while it pointed Kirsaragi to be the killer, he said he doesn't know what they mean until Kogoro revealed about how Mio bought his work and sold it, making him mad but he thinks that not a good reason to kill her as he replied that they should be looking for the real killer. He then added he has an alibi for the previous murder. Kirsaragi then witness another one of Kogoro's failed explanation that the killer was Chinami, with everyone minus Conan thinking he's right.
During the building's blackout, Kirsaragi said he will take the stairs, with Migure saying that with his cane but Kirsaragi took offensive on the remark. During the destruction as Conan and the others headed to the roof, he and Ail had the other kids go to the roof to wait for the helicopter while both Conan and Ail discovered Kirsaragi (in "The Criminal" Shadow appearance) as Conan explain that he was the one who gave Mio the pearl necklace that was used to kill her, which Conan flashed his watch light to revealed Hosui Kisaragi as the true killer.
Kirsaragi then told Conan he remembered his from the day he and the others arrived at his house as Conan revealed how he used the pearls to kill her; It seems that before the painting was shown, Kirsaragi snucked behind her and removed the necklace without her noticing, then gave her a similar one with piano wire that he hidden in the painting and when the curtain rises, she was lifted up and hanged to death. Conan also added that he found a pearl on the floor and the sake cup next to her dead body but Ail pointed out that he has an alibi as he didn't kill Yoshiaki Hara but Conan explained that he wasn't the one who killed him as he tried to but Hara was already dead when he arrived and tries to make it look like he killed him by breaking the sake cup, not knowing that the blood already dried so the pieces couldn't be coated with blood. Conan then added that when he saw the photo of Oki body, he notices that only the lower half of the closet was splattered in blood as Conan that Kisaragi must have gotten blood on the wall scroll of Mt Fuji that he created and noted that it must have been the reason why Kisaragi went to see Oki, to give him an excuse to see him.
Kisaragi admits that it's a good theory but told Conan that there's no evidence to back up the crime, but Conan said that the proof is in his cane, to be precise the pearls he switched with Mio that caused her death. Hearing that Kisaragi opened his cane (which shows he can stand without it) and removed the pearls from the inside and wondered how Conan now that and Conan revealed that when he heard the cane, it made different noises, with Kisaragi being impressed with that. Ali then wondered what the motive was for him killing Mio and the others, as she thinks the motive of killing her because of his painting she been selling was a weak one, but Conan explained that the true motive involved killing Oki and his failed attempt to kill Hara was the twin towers as Conan said that most of his Mt Fuji painting are shown to be in the same angle.
Kisaragi then explains that a few decades ago. he found a hill with the perfect view of Mt. Fuji and used it to help him paint it but as he was getting older, he decides to buy the hill and build a house on it, which he had the perfect position to paint Mt Fuji for the remainder of his life. However, as he explained that while life was good, He took out a jar of black ink, pour it on a broom and used it to draw a big black mark in front of the painting of Mt. Fuji and claimed that Mio destroyed it. Ali and Conan then learn that his motives for killing all three; For Mio and Hara it was because of their involvement with the towers splitting his view the Mt. Fuji while for killing Oki was because for approving the towers' construction plan. The broken cups themselves symbolizes of how he lost his view on the Mountain, which the third cup not being broken as Conan explains that Mio's being hanged in front of the picture also symbolize the towers splitting the view. With his crime now exposed, Kisaragi took out a small bottle which contained poison and tries to kill himself so he wouldn't go to jail which he was planning to do after his plan was completed, only for Conan to use his stun watch to tranquilize Kisaragi and knocked him out.
Ali then asked how Conan knew it was him as Conan explained that it was when they went to see him, he notices the towers was blocking Mt. Fuji from the position of the hills where Kisaragi was living and that his window (which was in the perfect position of where Mt. Fuji is) was covered, as he did it so that no one could make the connection of him and the deaths.
Kisaragi's knocked out body was then place in Kogoro's new car as Conan and the others used it and the explosion to launch themselves to the pool side of the tower safely. Kisaragi was then awake and taken away after his crime was revealed and looked at Conan and Ail and sign as he continued to be taken away, with Sonoko couldn't believe that he was the killer and that Kogoro (trying to cover up his mistake from earlier) claims he knew about it all along.
