House Do'Urden, also know are Daermon N'a'shezbaernon, are major antagonists of R.A Salvatore's The Legend of Drizzt, serving as the main antagonists of The Drow Trilogy and Homeland.
They are an ambitious drow house of Menzoberranzan, who worked their way up the hierarchy of the city. After wiping out House Devir and Hun'ett, they finally became members of the high council. However, they also housed a rebellious weapons master Zakneifen and his even more rebellious son Drizzt. Because of this pair's sacrilege, Do'Urden lost the favor of Lolth and was destroyed by House Baenre and Bregan D'aerth. It was ruled by Matron Mother Malice, before she was briefly usurped by her daughter Briza. Over a century later they would be recreated by Qunethel Baenre to be her pawn, and she used them to slander Drizzt and start a war on the surface. At this point they were officially ruled by Dahlia Sin'felle, but genuinly ruled by Tiago Baenre.
History[]
During the founding of Menzoberranzan, House Do'Urden was built into the West Wall. Eventually, it became tenth house.
In order to rise up the ranks, Matron Mother Malice ordered an attack on House Devir, the fourth house. The attack was successful, and House Do'Urden moved up to ninth house, becoming favored by Lolth. However, when their youngest boy Drizzt spare a high elf child, they lost this favor, with Drizzt leaving Menzoberranzan. House Hun'ett, having long planned to destroy the ninth house, started a covert war with House Do'Urden.
After several years of fighting, House Do'Urden finally destroyed House Hun'ett, moving up to eighth house and finally joining the high council. However, in the wake of this victory, Yvonnel Baenre met with Malice and told her that if they did not kill Drizzt, they would permanently lose Lolth's favor. Malice made several attempts to kill her son, but eventually used all of her power on one, leading to their destruction at the hands of House Baenre.

- Vartha: The matron mother house Do'urden and mother of Malice, before dying suddenly.
- Malice: The matron mother after the death of her mother Vartha. She gave birth to Vierna and Drizzt with Zaknafein, and Nalfein, Briza, Dinin, and Maya with Rizzen. After Drizzt rejected the ways of drow society, Malice gave up all her power in an attempt to kill him and regain Lolth's favor. When this failed, she was killed and usurped by Briza.
- Briza: The daughter of Malice and Rizzen. After the house fell from Lolths's favor, she killed her mother and became the matron mother, immediately before being killed by House Baenre when they attacked the house.
- Vierna: The daughter of Malice and Zaknafein. She survived the attack from House Baenre when they fell out of Lolth's favor, and years later, with the help of Dinin and Jarlaxle, tried to kill her Drizzt, who she blamed for the fall of the house. She was killed during the attack by her brother.
- Maya: The daughter of Malice and Rizzen. She was killed during the House's fall from Lolth's favor by the Baenres.

- Zaknafein: Originally a commoner whose skills caught the attention of Matron Mother Malice, he taken as her lover and made Weapons Master. The two of them gave birth to Drizzt and Vierna. Zaknafein was sacrificed by his family after they discovered that he had convinced Drizzt to reject Lolth, thereby causing the house to lose the Spider Queen's favor. He was later brought back as a Zin-carla in order to kill Drizzt but killed himself to prevent himself from ending his son.
- Rizzen: Matron Mother Malice's occasional lover, with who she gave birth to Nalfein, Briza, Dinin, and Maya. He died when Malice ordered the Zaknafein Zin-carla to kill him for fun.
- Nalfein: The son of Malice and Rizzen and the only member of the family who was a wizard. He was killed by Dinin in an attempt to move up the hierarchy during the attack on House Devir.
- Dinin: The son of Malice and Rizzen. He survived Baenre's attack on the house by joining the mercenary band Bregan D'aerth. He was later transformed into a drider by Vierna and killed in battle by Brunor Battlehammer.
- Drizzt: The son of Zaknafein and Malice. Along with his father, he rejected Lolth and eventually left Menzoberranzan to go to the surface, his rejection of the Spider Queen leading to the destruction of the house. He was killed centuries later by his lover Dahlia Sin'felle.
