~ Howe. |
Howe is the right hand of Frederick Gideon active during the Revolutionary War until he was possessed by a demon and thrown through the Black Door. He is an overarching antagonist of Locke & Key.
Biography[]
The American Revolution[]
After Howe's commanding officer, Frederick Gideon, came upon rumors that a man named Peter Locke was manufacturing weapons and stockpiling terroristic armaments, he accompanied his investigation and subsequently searched the house with the other redcoats. The search proved fruitful, and Howe helped uncover the attic eight pounds of presumably unauthorized gunpowder and stolen British guns. Howe was rewarded when Gideon allowed him and his fellow redcoats to help themselves to anything in the house they desired, with wagons available to load it. Howe was routed by reinforcements and made for the main trail, coming upon a sea cave. Gideon announced that they would hide here until the Minutemen finished their search and that in remaining on the tide lines, they would be safe there. Hearing soothing yet enigmatic probing noises, Howe looked on as Gideon's touch quickly activated a portal to another dimension.
Possession and disappearance[]
In the ensuing gunfight with the arriving enemy, Howe became endangered when a demonic bullet surged out of a blue mist. Seeing this, Gideon warned him to evade. Howe failed, and an orange bullet struck his neck and the demon within possessed him. No longer distinguishing friend from foe, Howe saw only humans who have always perseucted demons and would surely not take kindly to his presence. He lashed out at Minutemen and Redcoats alike. Unfortunately, one of the Minutemen cocked his rifle and blasted Howe back through the portal, causing him to vanish indefinitely.
Personality[]
Howe is a loyal follower of Frederick Gideon, but his reaction time is delayed, and while this proved a fatal flaw, it should be noted he was injured from gunshots at the time, leaving it unclear just how nimble he really is. He was rational enough to realize when he and his comrades were outnumbered, and unlike his master, he looked immensely apprehensive when an orange bullet surged towards him. His demonic possessor cannot distinguish friend from foe.
Powers and Abilities[]
