“ | According to the Scrap Queen, the drones are trying to use the space elevator's transmission capabilities...to send their data to drone manufacturing plants across the continent. They're trying to strengthen their numbers. What's worse, their data contains a depth of war experience. Newer aircraft will be more tactically advanced. If that's the case, this war will never end. | „ |
~ Jaeger about Hugin and Munin's goals |
The ADF-11F Raven drones, codenamed Hugin and Munin, are the final antagonists of the video game Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. The last two UAV drones from the Zone of Endless project to have been produced and activated, they attempted to transmit their data to factories that would produce an army of drones in their image that would defeat Osea.
Biography[]
Hugin and Munin were produced by Grunder Industries as part of their military drone program. Those drones were to be supplied with the flight data obtained from the Erusean ace Mihaly A. Shilage to help the country's air force win the Lighthouse War. They were the only two who received said data from Dr. Shroeder before Mihaly's granddaughter destroyed the data disk in anger. They took off and reached the International Space Elevator where the united Osean and Erusean Conservative forces had by that point already defeated the Erusean Radicals, the ones who pursued the drone program in the first place. Hugin and Munin attacked their enemies, causing a number of casualties and forcing them to retreat. The drones planned to use the space elevator to transmit their flight data to drone factories all over Usean continent, allowing them to produce an endless number of robots even more advanced than Hugin and Munin, perpetuating the Lighthouse War. However, the elevator was offline thanks to Avril Mead and Princess D'Elise's actions, and the drones had to wait for it to come back online to fulfill their plan.
Once the Oseans realized the drones' intentions, they sent the Strider Squadron, as well as Erusean conservatives and Voslage separatists, to stop them. Despite their immense air combat skills and advanced weaponry, the Raven drones were shot down and reduced to their cockpit units who kept fighting. While one of them was ultimately destroyed, the other escaped into the tunnel that led inside the space elevator. Trigger and Count of the Strider Squadron pursued it, and while the drone shot Count down, forcing him to land, Trigger stopped it from transmitting its data and destroyed it before escaping the elevator.
Personality[]
In spite of never uttering a single coherent word, Hugin and Munin seem to be more self-aware than any other artificial intelligence up to that point, as they were able to devise a plan to defeat Osean forces even after their superiors had been utterly defeated. They were even able to trick their enemies a number of times into thinking that they were down, only to strike back at them. How much they were influenced by their programming, and if they managed to overcome it, remains unclear, as such it's unknown whether they didn't stop fighting because Erusean radicals couldn't give them the order to seize action or if they had their own agenda regarding the production of a new drone army.
If Trigger fails to shoot down the surviving drone before it uploads its data, it will self-destruct, hinting that Hugin and Munin either didn't plan to live to see their plan come to fruition or, as Count believes, would live on without their original bodies.

Trivia[]
- The drones' codenames are a reference to Huginn and Muninn, two ravens who, according to Scandinavian myths, report to Odin about everything they see while flying around Midgard.
- Hugin and Munin can be occasionally heard conversing with either each other or their enemies through radio static.
- Hugin and Munin lose their codenames once their cockpit units detach from their damaged bodies. Due to this, it can't be determined which drone was destroyed outside the elevator and which was destroyed inside of it.
- Unlike the other five Z.O.E aircraft that were sent during the Usean coup d'etat, Captain, Major, Colonel, General, & Commander, Hugin & Munin don't sport a red livery, instead being pure black.
- Hugin & Munin also don't use military ranks as their names & instead derive their names from mythology.
- They also both use the same aircraft & are fought together, while the previous 5 used different aircraft & are fought separately.
