Hwang Dongsoo is a major antagonist in the webtoon, light novel, and anime series Solo Leveling. He was the American-Korean younger brother of the C-Rank Korean hunter Hwang Dongsuk and a guild member of the Scavenger Guild, led by the National Level Hunter, Thomas Andre. Upon learning the death of his brother at the hand of the once weakest hunter of mankind, Sung Jinwoo and Yoo Jinho he developed immense lust to avenge his brother. Following his death in his battle against Jinwoo, Jinwoo revived him and recruited him as one of his shadow soldiers, renaming him as Greed.
He is voiced by Junichi Suwabe in Japanese and by Matthew David Rudd in Korean.
Appearance[]
Hwang was a towering Asian American man of exceptionally muscular build and short black hair in a buzz cut. On occassions, he would bear a cruel blood-lusted smile. His eyes shine a menacing red color whenever his emotion and power are unleashed. At home, in the United States, he was in a dark blue waffle bathrobe with white far. In his time at Korea, he had a golden chain around his neck and wore a shirt of red color, and a jeans of grey color.
Personality[]
Hwang is an immensely cold and greedy man with scant regards over others. He also exhibited high arrogance, which was evident as he believe that he stood a chance in facing hunters that were far too powerful for his league, unaware that Sung Jinwoo had achieved a power that slaughtered his older brother's entire squad, leaving him blind to his chance of defeat. Additionally, he relished in exerting power over others weaker than himself, resembling his brother in this bullying demeanor.

At a certain time prior to the start of the story, Hwang accepted right away to move and live to the United States from an offer by Norman Selner and decided to join Thomas Andre's Scavenger Guild. Because of his sudden decision, many from his county deemed him as a selfish traitor for forsaken his native country for his own gain.

In present days, in a morning, Hwang is seen motioneless standing and staring at the rising sun in the morning inside his appartement. At night, his assistant, Laura, enters Hwang's room and discusses with her the outcomes of his decision to avenge the death of his older brother that occured inside a raid gone wrong in a dungeon. Knowing that it is either Sung Jinwoo or Yoo Jinho that took the life of his brother, he flew back to South Korea to find them and get his brother's revenge.
