Biography[]
Hyan-Woo is a highly skilled martial artist and among the best that Kim Da-Eun's dojo has to offer. He along with her master and several other skilled senseis traveled from South Korea to America upon Terry Silver's call in order to help run the newly expanded Cobra Kai. Hyan-Woo was seen overseeing the training of Cobra Kai studens such as Tory Nichols, Devon Lee, Kyler Park and Kenny Payne.
Hyan was later attacked inside the Cobra Kai dojo by Johnny Lawrence and Chozen Toguchi. Johnny provoked him and demanded to know where Terry Silver was but Hyan claimed to be superior. The fight started and Hyan prove to be a real challenge for Johnny Lawrence forcing Chozen to intervene. Chozen asked him for how long he has been training in Kim Sun-Yung's dojo to which Hyan replied that he was training there all his life. Johnny and Chozen fought him together and gained the upper hand knocking him down before being stopped by Kim Da-Eun and several other senseis.
Hyan-Woo was present as he trained Kenny Payne and Devon Lee by having them mimic his movements and poses as Silver welcomed the judges of Sekai Taikai. He was next seen holding a wooden board that Kenny Payne broke with a well-performed side kick as Silver described him as the best male student within the Dojo to the judges. He watched the match between Kenny and Hawk, with the former emerging victorious thanks to the Silver Bullet technique from Terry, though Tory Nichols, realizing Terry had bribed the referee once again, fled before her match with Samantha LaRusso, forcing Kim Da-Eun to pick Devon instead. Despite Devon losing, Cobra Kai is qualified for the tournament, though the judges also select Miyagi-Do.
Following a training session, Kim and Silver dismissed all the students, except Tory. They brought the girl towards a stone dummy, wanting her to break it despite the risk of seriously injuring her hand. When Tory refused and insisted she was going home, Hyan, Odell and Bacaria blocked the exit, forcing her to comply with Kim's demands. After her sixth punch broke the stone plate, the senseis felt no pity towards the pain she was suffering and they all left Tory in the room as she clutched her bleeding hand.
Days later, when Johnny Lawrence, Chozen Toguch and Mike Barnes went into Terry Silver's house, Hyan was once again present along with his co-senseis in order to protect his two masters Terry Silver and Kim Da-Eun. Hyan fought Chozen and Johnny once again but this time with the aid of his fellow senseis. After Chozen went after Silver himself, Johnny was left alone to deal with Hyan-Woo and the rest of the senseis who quickly gained the upper hand and brutally beat Johnny. After seeing the picture of his unborn child, Johnny found the motivation he needed and beat most of the senseis by himself but was ultimately overpowered by Hyan and Min-Jun. Hyan attempted to stab Johnny to death with a sword but was attacked from behind by Mike Barnes who knocked him and Min-Jun out. It is unknown what happened to him afterwards. However, it can somewhat be implied that since he didn’t appear in the final season, he may have been left for dead or arrested by the police for his actions.
