Villain Overview

This dark planet is rapidly freezing over. Soon it'll turn frozen solid. Before that, we must take over planets of the Solar System and crush those humans who put me in this accursed body!
~ Hyuza upon hearing about the Bismarck.

Hyuza, also known as the Fuhrer, is the main antagonist of the anime series Star Musketeer Bismark. He is the Chancellor of the Deathcula and the mastermind behind their attacks on the Solar System, drawing a cult-like reverence from his followers. His most trusted generals are Perios and Gustav, but nevertheless he keeps them under tight control.

The penultimate episode of the series reveals that the darkly clad figure he appears as is a mechanical puppet. His true body is the main computer of Hell's Paradise, which he has transferred his mind in after being mortally wounded by Shinjiro Hikari years ago, allowing him to see every Deathcula's activities.

He was voiced by the late Seizō Katō.

Appearance[]

Hyuza is a tall, frightening figure with a demonic death mask for a face. He wears a black robe which conceals his entire body. It's later revealed that this body is a mere mechanical puppet controlled by his real body, the supercomputer in Hell's Paradise, which he has transferred his mind into after being mortally wounded by Shinjiro Hikari years ago. And since Hyuza's true form is Hell's Paradise's supercomputer, he is a purple spherical machine with only one eye.

Personality[]

Hyuza is a power-hungry warlord who wishes to take over the Solar System by strategy and force, and have revenge toward humans because Shinjiro Hikari thwarted his initial invasion and mortally wounded him 15 years ago. He's very cunning, capable of concocting plans and manipulating others, even Perios, who himself is a skilled manipulator. This is perhaps best shown at the end of the series, where he successfully tricks the Earth Federation Government into allowing the Deathcula to live on Mars with humans, only to then massacre the humans there, and it's only thanks to Perios' arrogance that the Federation manage to see through his lies.

Hyuza knows to use the most skilled generals like Zatola and Perios to achieve his goal, and reward them for their successes. Cold and ruthless, he also has no qualms punishing his subjects should they failed him, as shown when he attempts to seize Zatola for abandoning his post upon the latter's return, only forgiving him when Zatola says he only returns to report about the Bismarck. While he seems to treat his men well, it's all to ensure their loyalties and in truth, Hyuza doesn't care about them at all, having only used them as pawns to further his own ends. Despite trusting Perios and Gustav the most, he still keeps them under tight control. Due to his consciousness being contained by Hell's Paradise's supercomputer, Hyuza is able to see every Deathcula's activities, including Perios' attempt to overthrow him, but decides to play along with them anyways. It's also implied that Hyuza's desire to conquer the Solar System has never been out of concern for the Deathcula either, but to satisfy himself in causing wanton destruction on planets he would dominate before moving on to the next.

It's later revealed his desire for revenge on humans is so bad that he chooses to smash Hell's Paradise into Earth even if it means killing himself and his people as well, confirming that he never cares about the Deathcula in the first place. However, the fact that his vengeance is based upon something that he did, since Shinjiro only wounded him because he invaded the Solar System, makes Hyuza a hypocrite and ultimately egotist who can't stand anyone against him.

History[]

Past[]

15 years ago, when the Deathcula's new planet Metheus was dying, Hyuza and his people invaded the Solar System for the first time. He lost his physical body during the battle of Saturn, when Shinjiro Hikari, Shinji's father, destroyed his spacecraft and mortally wounded him. To survive, Hyuza transferred his mind in the main computer of Hell’s Paradise and connected it to a mechanical body, becoming a cyborg in the process and also allowing him to see every Deathcula's activities. He then plotted his revenge on humanity for years.

Star Musketeer Bismark[]

In 2084, Hyuza launches a second invasion and has his army attack the human colonies and kill many human colonists without provocation. The Earth Federation Government fight them but are hopelessly outmatched due to their advanced technology. As a result, Dr. Charles Louvre creates the transformable starship Bismarck in order to combat them, and founds the Bismarck team to pilot it. When Zatola returns to Metheus to report this, Hyuza is about to seize him for abandoning his post, but relents upon learning about the Bismarck and gives Zatola legions of soldiers to fight it.

Halfway through the war, during the Ganymede invasion, Hyuza sends a large fleet to aid Zatola to conquer it. However, upon learning that the Bismarck team have destroyed Zatola's fortress and killed Zatola himself, causing the Deathcula to suffer a major loss, he orders his fleet to retreat. Afterwards, Hyuza summons Perios back from Andromeda, and the latter winds up becoming one of the biggest rivals towards the Bismarck team, especially Bill Willcox, and Hyuza's most trusted subordinate. At the same time, Hyuza is aware of Perios' attempt to overthrow him thanks to Hell's Paradise's supercomputer, but plays along.

Towards the end, Hyuza successfully tricks the Federation into signing a peace accord and allowing the Deathcula to settle on Mars alongside the human colonists who are already there. Then he launches a massive assault and massacres almost the entire human population there by disabling their life-support systems that create breathable atmosphere, leading them to suffocate to death en masse. In response, the Federation muster a massive war fleet and kill every Deathcula present. Hyuza orders Perios to head to Mars to rescue him and his people, but the latter instead chooses to take Hell's Paradise to attack Earth, seeing this as an opportunity to seize it for himself. However, Hyuza takes control of the fortress from him and heads to Mars himself to save his own mechanical body.

After the Federation destroy Hyuza's final fortress on Mars, his mechanical body emerges and reveals its true nature before collapsing to the ground, much to everyone's surprise. Angered at his loss, he attempts to smash Hell's Paradise into Earth as a last revenge even if it means killing himself and his people as well. When the Bismarck team invade the fortress to stop it with Perios chasing them from behind, they learn that he has transferred his mind into a supercomputer after Shinjiro mortally wounded him years ago. After a fight between the team, Perios and Hyuza, the team destroy Hyuza alongside Perios and Hell's Paradise, ending his threat once and for all.

Trivia[]

  • Hyuza was based on Dokurobei from Yatterman, in that he is the mastermind of a terrorist organization who is in truth a possessed object that controls a robot decoy from afar. Both of them also have skull as a motif.
  • Hyuza has many similarities with traditional depictions of the Devil. He is a manipulator who tricks others into doing his bidding, has a demonic death mask for a face, his throne room is always in ominous darkness that resembles Hell, and his main spacecraft is called Hell's Paradise. The Deathcula revere him as a kind of evil deity, and their pointy ears and fangs also make them resemble traditional depictions of demons, only without the horns. Metheus is a frozen world, which may be reminiscent of the ninth circle of Hell as depicted in The Divine Comedy, a massive, cold lake of icy water on which Satan himself is imprisoned, in the same way that Hyuza is trapped in the body of Hell's Paradise's supercomputer.
