Oh, trust me, it'll be very true when I'm executing you in front of all of Iacon. Because down here... the truth is what I make it.
~ Sentinel to B-127.
Sentinel: You pathetic little twits! Did you really think that you could knock down everything I've built?!
Orion: It's over, Sentinel! You can't escape the truth!
Sentinel: What truth? That I plucked the cogs from your newborn chests? Forced you to mine so that I could pay off the Quintessons and live like a king?! None of that matters! Because the truth... Is... What... I... MAKE IT!
~ Sentinel's villainous breakdown to Orion Pax as that exposed his true nature.

The Iacon City Government are the main antagonists of the 2024 animated science fiction action film Transformers One.

It was a corrupted, hypocritical, and irredeemable planetary government that is based in Iacon City, consolidated and led by Sentinel Prime over the course of 50 cycles. Sentinel presented himself to the citizens as a glorious hero and symbol who was looking for the Matrix of Leadership, managing to conceal his betrayal and massacre against the Thirteen Primes, the loss of the Matrix, and his unstable pact with the Quintessons.

Sentinel's government was characterized by its disguised perverse practices, one of the most serious was having taken away the transformation cogs from countless innocent Cybertronians to turn them into lower-class miners, and thus, sustain the pact through giant tributes. This government also possessed extremely elitist and abusive agents, these being the right-hand of the false Prime, Airachnid, the soldiers known as Trackers, and abusive supervisors like Darkwing and the guards. They opposed the High Guard, powerful warriors recruited by the Primes who discovered the truth.

The government of Iacon City instituted lies and false promises, which allowed Sentinel to live as a monarch at the expense of the misery and extreme labor of innocent Cybertronians. Fortunately, the government fell after a group of miners formed by Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-One, and B-127, discovered the truth and formed an alliance with the old High Guard to defeat and expose Sentinel.

After D-16 turned into Megatron, killed Sentinel and attempted to destroy Iacon alongside the High Guard, Orion Pax received the Matrix and emerged as Optimus Prime, defeating his former best friend and founding the heroic Autobots to fight in a new era for Cybertron, where freedom and unity were the foundation.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

After Energon was gone and the Matrix of Leadership's disappearance when Sentinel stole the Matrix from the late Zeta Prime but was deemed unworthy by Primus for his betrayal, he stole the cogs from the newborn bots. With Energon gone, the bots became miners who extracted Energon from the mines. Sentinel needed henchmen at his side, so he gave cogs to the Trackers, hiring his fellow bots, with the intention of managing his slavery campaign with Darkwing, monitor intruders in the archives with the Guards, have henchmen to accompany him to his meetings with the Quintessons, such as Airachnid and the Trackers or simply have racers for the Iacon 5000 race.

Transformers One[]

Upon receiving the news that Orion Pax had broken into the archives, the Guards chased him and tried to arrest him for trespassing. During the chase, D-16 distracted them after he bump into them. The Guards asked him where Orion was, D-16 pointed them to a wrong direction and the Guards took off.

In the work, Orion Pax and D-16 saved Jazz from the mine's collapse which was against protocol. Darkwing appears and fires Elita-1, thinking that she broke the protocol. Elita tries to protest but he xenophobically tells her that she is a cogless bot with limited options and sends her to waste management. For that hateful action, Orion in response stood up to Darkwing and mocked him showing him the middle finger, and he tries to hit him angrily, but D-16 stops him and hits Orion for Darkwing, and apologizes for disrespecting him. However, Darkwing punched D-16 in the face for interfering.

Sentinel returns after his "search to find the Matrix of Leadership" and announces that tomorrow will be the Iacon 5000 race where the Transformers will prove to be more than meets the eye. Which is why Orion Pax decides to enter with D-16. On race day, Darkwing appeared along with other Transformers with cogs. Sentinel arrive, and says the race will "honor his brothers and sisters in arms". When the race starts, Orion Pax and D-16 secretly entered in the race, for the big Sentinel's print. In the same race, Darkwing is humiliated for their interference, and despite their efforts, Orion Pax and D-16 lose the race, leaving them very wounded. After the race, Sentinel talks to Orion and D-16 about their interference, saying they inspired the miners since they exceeded 150% of their quota. Airachnid tells Sentinel that they should leave to his "travel" to the surface, so he orders her about calling someone and send them to his personal service facilities. However, Darkwing, angry with the protagonists, sends them to level 50 as revenge for interfering in the race. But they don't last long there as Orion Pax, D-16, and B-127 find a message from Alpha Trion, so they decide to go to the surface to find the Matrix, along with Elita-1, who joins the trip. In a cave they find Alpha Trion, who reveals to them Sentinel's true colors. The Thirteen Primes' principal aide, Sentinel himself, said there would be a secret meeting of Quintesson Commanders and defeating them alone would end the war. Which is why they went there. The Thirteen Primes were on the verge of winning until Sentinel betrayed them by killing the Primes in gruesome ways, from stabbing Nexus Prime and decapitating Megatronus Prime to shooting Solus Prime in the chest and Zeta Prime in the head. Sentinel stole the Matrix of Leadership to become more powerful, but Primus deemed him unworthy and made the Matrix disappear, due to Sentinel's true colors and why only someone worthy in the eyes of Primus could have the Matrix.

Sentinel meets with the Quintessons, and after kneeling before the Quintesson High Commander revealing his true colors to Orion Pax, D-16, B-127, and Elita-1, who saw him secretly. Seeing that the Energon was incomplete, the Quintesson High Commander demands more from Sentinel while torturing him, and the latter says that he did it because Iacon also needed Energon to survive, and this annoys the High Commander, and Sentinel swears to get the rest. After the torture, he orders to triple time every mining so that no miner gets a break until he has his Energon, and after the meeting Sentinel with his henchmen back to Iacon. After seeing the scene, Alpha Trion gives the miners cogs to transform, and tells them that they need to showing Cybertron the Sentinel's true nature. Some Trackers sent by Airachnid tried to kill Alpha Trion, but the Prime luckily defeated them, however Airachnid attacks and kidnaps him to take him to her boss. Meanwhile, the protagonists defeated some Trackers with the help of the cogs. In the tower, Sentinel meets Alpha Trion once again, and tells him that he killed the Primes because he disliked their heroic speeches, and asks him who were in the cave, and Alpha Trion tells him that they will defeat him, which provokes Sentinel's anger and decides to kill him. After that, Sentinel orders Airachnid to hunt down the others.

Airachnid, following Orion Pax, D-16, B-127, and Elita-1, causes her to also find the High Guard, causing the kidnapping of Starscream, B-127, D-16, and the other members of the Guard. Once brought handcuffed and on their knees before Sentinel, he reveals that he will execute them in front of the entire city of Iacon, lying that they are collaborating with the Quintessons to sabotage him and his expeditions. B-127 angry stands up to him telling that none of Sentinel's words are true and Sentinel insults and shows his arrogance to B-127. D-16 stands up, refusing to kneel in front of Sentinel, causing him to punch him. After the punch, Sentinel discovers a Megatronus Prime sticker and reveals to D that he stole Megatronus' cog for himself. He tortured D-16 by putting a fake Megatronus Prime face on his chest with a blowtorch.

Meanwhile, Orion Pax decides to go to Iacon, where Ironhide tells Darkwing that the miners need rest and time to repair. Darkwing threatens Ironhide to return to the mines, or else he will beat him up, but just then, Orion appears, who knocks out Darkwing, causing him to be crushed by an arcade machine. With Darkwing defeated, Orion tells the miners about Sentinel's true nature, and convinces them to fight against Sentinel, managing to recruit them for battle.

Meanwhile in the tower, Sentinel was about to execute D-16 with a shot, until Elita in a train along with Soundwave, Shockwave and other members of the High Guard, rescue the other members of the Guard, Starscream, D-16, and B-127. Airachnid with some Trackers prepare to attack them, but in that moment appears some members of the High Guard, fighting against them. When Elita thought they weren't going to make it, Orion Pax appears with the miners, to help in the fight. Airachnid furiously attacks Orion Pax, and mockingly says that he can't win because the spider bot sees everything, until Orion sends her flying, while the train crashes into the tower, hitting Sentinel and saving D-16. Soundwave, successfully manages to free the prisoners, and when Orion talks to D-16 about how to stop Sentinel, D still wants to do it his way. B-127 defeat some Trackers with his new battle mask and knife hands.

While Orion Pax, Elita-1, and B-127 were fighting the Trackers, D-16 was searching for Sentinel, who attacked both Orion Pax and D-16, and mocked them for believing they would destroy everything he built. Orion, standing up to him, tells that Sentinel can escape the truth, so Sentinel mockingly says it doesn't matter if he plucked the miners' cogs from their newborn chests and forced them to mine so he can give Energon to the Quintessons and live like a king, because "the truth is what he make it" before trying to kill Orion, D, Elita and B. Orion, remembering Airachnid's words, has the idea of using her memory banks to reveal Sentinel's crimes. And just when they were wondering where she was, Airachnid attacks Elita 1, causing a fight between the two in which Elita, on Orion's orders, has to defeat her but not destroy her as a whole.

While D-16 stays behind to fight Sentinel, Elita manages to defeat Airachnid, allowing Orion, Elita, and B to use her memories to reveal the truth to Cybertron. Sentinel's crimes are exposed, from stealing Megatronus Prime's cog, stealing the cogs from the bots and leaving them as miners, to revealing that he forces them to mine Energon in order to pay the Quintessons and live like a king, and of course, revealing that he is the servant of the Quintesson High Commander. With his empire in ruins, the dethroned Sentinel watches with horror how his crimes were revealed to Iacon, unaware that D-16 was behind him ready to attack him, rushing at, hitting, and cornering him.

D-16 angrily is ready to kill the tyrannical usurper, and Sentinel foolishly and cowardly says he and D can rule Cybertron together. When D was going to shoot Orion stops him, because killing Sentinel will not make D-16 better than him, instead it will make him worse or equal. D-16 pushes Orion Pax away, and when he was preparing to shoot him, Orion crosses, and before falling, D-16 save him for the last time, but D-16, angry with his friend, finally embraces villainy, and lets Orion Pax fall, because he was done saving him. Some Trackers appear to protect Sentinel and a corrupted D-16 kills them one by one. D-16, having had enough of Sentinel, gives him a taste of his own medicine by brutally ripping him in half as the High Guard celebrated, while Elita-1 and B-127 were shocked to see D-16 consumed by villainy. Ultimately, D-16 kills Sentinel for good, avenging the Thirteen Primes, including Megatronus Prime and Alpha Trion, thus finally ending the Iacon City Government once and for all.

Legacy[]

As for Orion Pax and D-16, the former was resurrected by Primus, who gave him the Matrix because his actions made him worthy, and he was renamed Optimus Prime. D-16, on the other hand, became Megatron and proceeded to try to destroy everything that Sentinel built. Fortunately, Optimus manages to reach the surface and defeats Megatron. Once the battle is over, Optimus confronts Megatron, because he was given the power to change his world and chose to destroy it, just like Sentinel, in addition to betraying the Cybertronians and his best friend. Finally, Optimus decides to banish Megatron along with the High Guard.

Sentinel's reputation and name would forever be soured in Cybertronian history, so much so that upon his demise, Optimus rebuilt Cybertronian society, rebranding all the miners as the Autobots in honor of their newly earned autonomy, so that they can stand against the Quintessons. But unfortunately, Sentinel's machinations and greed have turned Megatron for the worst, with the former miner permanently denouncing all Primes (except for Megatronus) and rebranding the former High Guard as the Decepticons.

It's unknown what happen to the rest of the Iacon City Government subordinates like Airachnid, Darkwing, the Trackers, or the Archive guards after Sentinel's death, but it is likely that they were arrested and set for trial under Optimus' new leadership and the Trackers were all scrapped due to being nothing more than mindless drones. It is also most likely that some of them died in the Great War of Cybertron due to them now being outcasts among the Autobots and the Decepticons.

Members[]

Known Members[]

Trivia[]

  • They are arguably one of the most evil Transformers in the entire franchise, going as far as to remove transformation cogs from newborn Cybertronians where they would be forced to do hard labor and being gifted undeserved harsh and cruel treatments from the subordinates, in addition to willing to let their planet die a slow death by selling off their Energon to the planet's and the Primes' archenemies, the Quintessons, with the main members having zero redeeming qualities.
