Iain Adair is the secondary antagonist of the Black Mirror episode "Loch Henry". He is a citizen of Loch Henry who is infamous serial kidnapping, torturer, rapist and murderer who caused the town to be a ghost town. However, it is revealed that he was simply a third member, with the other two being Kenneth and Janet McCardle.

He is played by Ian Crowhurst.

Personality[]

Not much is shown on Iain’s personality, but was described as being an average person, drinking regularly at the bar. In the video taping, his only physical appearance, Iain was shown to be fidgety and non responsive, however still shows to enjoy what Kenneth and Janet are doing. It is left ambiguous if Iain is mentally ill and was manipulated or if he was a full participant, although judging by several photos and by the local legend, it appears that Iain was as evil as Janet and Kenneth were, being vitriolic and angered when drunk and showing to enjoy the suffering of others.

Biography[]

Not much is known about Iain’s life, apart from living with his parents in Loch Henry, and frequenting Stuart and his dad’s bar, sitting and drinking at the same spot every few days. It is unknown how he got in connections with Janet and Kenneth, but the three started their spree, with Iain kidnapping and holding the tourists in his bunker while he has Janet and Kenneth, along with himself, torture, rape and murder those people, burying them in the backyard while the couple film.

During one night, Iain gets very drunk and starts threatening Richard, claiming he will shoot up the place before leaving, and Richard calls Kenneth to check on Iain. Kenneth than proceeded to kill Iain to cover up the crimes and pin him as the sole perpetrator. He murders Iain and his parents before shooting himself in the shoulder, leading Kenneth and Janet going scot free for years.
