Iain Rannoch is the overarching antagonist of the Black Mirror Season 2 episode "White Bear". He was a man who was implicated in the kidnapping and death of young Jemima Sykes alongside his fiancée, who callously recorded him torturing and brutally murdering the girl in a secluded location. Rannoch and Skillane were found in the immediate aftermath of a major national search and rescue operation and were swiftly taken into custody amid mass public outrage. His phone was taking in for evidence after his recordings of Jemima's murder were discovered.

Intent on evading justice and escaping retribution for what he did Rannoch committed suicide in prison while awaiting trial, leaving Skillane alone to face the consequences of their actions, with the police ensuring that she cannot commit suicide the same way. She was spared any sympathy by the jury despite maintaining that she was "under [Rannoch's] spell" and was sentenced to presumably life in an outdoor torture facility known as a "justice park" for her part in the child's death.
