Ian Marks is the secondary antagonist in the crime drama TV series Chicago P.D episode "An Honest Woman". He is a serial robber.

He was portrayed by Brendan Sexton III, who also portrayed Raylan in Don't Breathe 2 and Tom Nissen in Boys Don't Cry.

Biography[]

Past[]

Ian Marks hails from a family full of petty criminals and followed in their footsteps by becoming a petty crook himself. His most common crime was home invasions as he had open warrants for them in Indiana and Michigan. Marks had several aliases he used for many different purposes.

"An Honest Woman"[]

Marks got word from his associate Josie Valescu that her friend knew Sgt. Hank Voight who had a large fortune of money taken from crooks stashed in his safe. Seeing a big score, Marks decided to go for it and had brought in Lucasz Gregorie, another associate for help because of the Sergeant's reputation. The two also tortured Olive Morgan, the pregnant girlfriend of Voight's son on the safe. Soon they broke in the house, while Voight was getting money from the safe and attempted to intimidate him into opening the safe, but he instead attacked them. Marks was left with bruises to the face, though Gregorie soon overpowered Voight and knocked him out. The two also kidnapped him and his son's pregnant girlfriend.

As Gregorie tortured Voight for the combination, the latter wouldn't budge, and Marks brought a captive Olive in and placed a bag on Olive's head while knowing she and her unborn baby would suffocate. Once Voight gave up the combination, Marks opened the safe while Gregorie coldly refused to take the bag off. Once they got the money, the two robbers are forced to leave Hank and Olive after his team (who tracked Voight's phone) breach. While fleeing with the money, Josie would pay a homeless man to burn the van.

Intelligence ran the faces and discovered Marks' history and a warrant issued for him. However, Marks became fearful of the heat from the cops and Gregorie possibly betraying him. As a result, he turned himself over to CPD, thinking it was the best way to survive. He told Sgt. Trudy Platt his name and voiced his desire to see Voight, who immediately confronted Marks and reclaimed his stolen money while Marks told him that Gregorie still had the rest, including a blue folder that he guesses Voight was looking for. He was then cuffed and instead of being taken to interrogation, Voight decided to go somewhere else. He protested that the officers were watching but each turned a blind eye to this, to his dismay. He was taken to The Silos, where Voight subjected him to mental and physical torture for his part in the robbery, as Marks was reduced to begging until Voight offered mercy if he agreed to help bring in Gregorie. Marks voiced fear of his partner, since Gregorie is ruthless and had killed others, wanting a deal if he were to do it. Voight stated his only deal is that he gets to live and after more persuasion, Marks agrees and Voight asked if Olive played a role in the robbery but he confirms she had no part.

He is wired up and remarks on the cops being scarier than crooks. He met up with Gregorie at the station but the latter quickly discovered the setup and kills Marks with a shot to the head, flees with the money through the crowd. Later on, Gregorie would be foiled by the CPD and like Marks, Voight took him to the Silos and subjected to punishment for his crimes before bringing him in to be arrested. Gregorie was charged for Marks' murder and the robbery. In a talk with his son, Voight informs that one of the burglars is dead and the other one will never see the outside of his cell.
