Ibaraki-Douji's Arm (茨木童子の腕) is the main antagonist of Touhou Project manga Wild and Horned Hermit.
She is the evil personality of Kasen Ibaraki who was sealed within her severed arm after the arm was cut by the youkai blade Oni-Cutter (鬼切丸 Onikirimaru). Since then she has been waiting to be fused with Kasen so she could return to her true form.
Appearance[]
Ibaraki-Douji's Arm looks mostly the same as Kasen Ibaraki, with pink hair and pink eyes, the difference is that she has visible horns, and her right arm is visible with a shackle and chain and the pressence of steel balls connected to her legs with chains.
Personality[]
Ibaraki-Douji's Arm is a cruel, violent and sadistic Oni who enjoys killing and devouring others. She has no pretensions about her hostility, openly declaring her intention to kill and eat Reimu when they first meet. Despite being the embodiment of Kasen Ibaraki's malevolence, Ibaraki-Douji's Arm is a fully sentient and has a mind of her own, even after she is fused with Kasen she can even forcefully take control of Kasen's entire body after she realized Kasen's true intentions.
Biography[]
Back before her arm was severed, Kasen Ibaraki used to be a wicked oni in the hell who has killed and devoured countless people. However, as her arm was cut by the youkai blade Oni-Cutter, the evil aspect of Ibaraki was sealed within the arm. Kasen Ibaraki then decided to turn good and become a Hermit, while looking for her missed arm. Even during the sealed state, the arm could still devour several people in the run-down old temple. After Kasen had finally found the arm, she took the arm to Gensokyo and tried to seal it again. However the seal was actually placed in Kasen's own body, and the arm alone cannot be resealed nor destroyed.
As Reimu Hakurei picks up the box containing the arm, she fell into unconcious state while her soul was trapped in the Infinite Hell of Avici. Ibaraki-Douji's arm appears as her oni form in the hell, trying to kill and eat Reimu, and summoning an army of skeleton minions to attack her, all of whom are the remains of the people she has eaten. As Reimu is overpowered, Kasen Ibaraki comes to hell and interrupts the battle. The arm feels happy to see her, and the two fused into Ibaraki-Douji's full form. Ibaraki throws Reimu an onigiri for her to eat, claiming it wouldn't be fun if Reimu fights her with empty belly. However, Kasen's true intent is to let Reimu cut her arm off with the fragment of the youkai blade again so that the arm can be sealed for good. As Tenshi Hinanawi comes to hell with the help of Komachi Onozuka, Tenshi informs Reimu that Kasen has hidden a fragment of the original Oni-Cutter blade in the onigiri wrappings. Having realized Kasen's true intent, the arm forcingly takes control of Kasen's body and tries to finish Reimu off, while Reimu managed to cut off the arm and seal her again.
