The Ice Dragon is a supporting antagonist in the Kirby franchise. He is a common boss that uses ice-related powers to attack. He is usually seen trying to defeat Kirby, making his debut in Kirby's Dream Land 2.
Appearance[]
Ice Dragon has a very simple design, having light blue and white skin, 4 teeth, a purple mouth, a tail, and small feet.
Biography[]
Kirby's Dream Land 2[]
Ice Dragon serves as the boss of the 4th level of Kirby's Dream Land 2, Iceberg. Ice Dragon is able to breath ice and also make icicles fall from the ceiling. Ice Dragon can also try to charge himself at Kirby and jump. In addition, Ice Dragon is able to kick a chunk of ice at Kirby.
Kirby's Dream Land 3[]
In the boss fight against Ado, Ice Dragon is painted by the former and is fought by Kirby. Since this version of Ice Dragon is a mid-boss inside of a boss, Ice Dragon is easier to defeat.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]
Just like Kirby's Dream Land 3, Ice Dragon is fought as a painting, but this time painted by Adeleine.
Kirby Super Star Ultra[]
Ice Dragon cameos in Kirby Super Star Ultra as a card in the minigame Kirby Card Swipe.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe[]
Ice Dragon's sprite appears on one of the many collectible keychains in Kirby Triple Deluxe.
Kirby: Planet Robobot[]
During the fight against the Holo Defense API, it creates a hologram of Ice Dragon named Holo-Ice Dragon. Holo-Ice Dragon has the same moveset as its normal counterpart, but this time, it can spit out snowflakes.
In the sub-games Meta Knightmare Returns and the True Arena, Holo Defense API, like other bosses, gets its own 2.0 version. Holo Defense API makes a 2.0 version of Holo-Ice Dragon. Holo-Ice Dragon has the same moveset, but this time harder, and also has an enhanced design.
Kirby Star Allies[]
In Kirby Star Allies, Adeleine and Ribbon can summon Ice Dragon with one of their moves. In addition, Ice Dragon also has its moveset from Kirby's Dream Land 3.
Kirby Clash series[]
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe[]
In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Ice Dragon finally makes his return as a boss, appearing as a boss in two of the stages. Ice Dragon has an expanded moveset and also maintains its Hologram design, this time in the flesh.
Super Kirby Clash[]
In Super Kirby Clash, Ice Dragon appears as a boss again, this time in 5 stages. He appears alongside a Frost Kibble Blade to create Team Frozen Stiff, and also teams up with Electric Dragon and a Flame Galboros to create Team Kaiju Trio.
Kirby's Dream Buffet[]
In Kirby's Dream Buffet, artwork of Ice Dragon appears on one of the games many collectible character treats.
Kirby: Right Back At Ya![]
Kirby of the Stars pilot[]
In the pilot episode, Ice Dragon appears along with other enemies invading Dream Land. Kirby inhales Ice Dragon and gains the Ice ability. With the Ice Ability, Kirby freezes Dark Matter.
"Dedede's Snow Job"[]
In the main anime, Ice Dragon serves as the main antagonist of the episode "Dedede's Snow Job". Ice Dragon is a monster given to King Dedede from Customer Service. At first, Ice Dragon appears to be small, like in the games. But then, the Ice Dragon becomes way bigger than in the games, and has a different appearance.
When Kirby tries to defeat the Ice Dragon with the ice ability, the former fails as the latter's skin is invulnerable to cold temperatures. However, Ice Dragon is vulnerable to cold temperature in the inside of its body. Kirby uses Chilly to go inside of the dragon to freeze it. Once the Ice Dragon is frozen, it is defeated, much to the shock of King Dedede and Escargoon. The snow created by the Ice Dragon melts as Cappy Town turns back to normal.
