Icicle was a major antagonist in season 5 of TheFlash. He was a cryokinetic meta-human and the evil alternate personality of Dr. Thomas Snow, father of Caitlin Snow, created by the good doctor's' experimental attempt to cure his ALS. He is also an enemy of his daughter's split personality, Killer Frost.
Thomas Snow was a brilliant cryo-geneticist that had been diagnosed with ALS syndrome sometime in 1999, which caused him to use experimental cryokinetic therapy on himself and his daughter, Caitlin Snow knowing that one day she would inherit his illness. Thomas was able to stop the diseases progression; however, he also gained cryogenic-based powers and developed a dual-personality called "Icicle".
In order to keep his wife and daughter safe from his villainous alter ego, Thomas faked his own death and spent 20 years hiding out in an abandoned research facility in the North Pole. At some point, Icicle took control of Thomas' body and used S.T.A.R. Labs video uplink to keep tabs on Caitlin.
Reunion with Caitlin[]
In "The Icicle Cometh", Caitlin, Cisco Ramon and Barry Allen locate Thomas (unaware that he is really Icicle) after discovering that his death certificate was a fake and that he left a message telling her to find him. While posing as Thomas, Icicle spends time with Caitlin and reveals that Killer Frost, Caitlin's split personality, was created as a result of Thomas attempting to find a cure for his and Caitlin's multiple sclerosis which resulted in them both gaining cryokinetic powers, though Thomas claimed to not have an alter ego. He then tells Caitlin that he is dying and has her produce a serum based on Caitlin's DNA to cure his ALS and suppress his human side for good.
Cisco later discover's that Caitlin's father lied to them and that they have been talking to Icicle the entire time. Though Caitlin refuses to believe Cisco's accusation, she eventually confronts Icicle who gleefully reveals his true colors and takes the cure after rendering her, Barry and Cisco unconscious with his powers. Icicle returns to his hideout and prepares to inject himself, but Killer Frost appears after Caitlin breaks through Devoe's mental barrier and ice blasts the villain. Icicle tries to convince his daughter that they can be stronger together if they both take the serum, but Killer Frost tells him that he is not her family and breaks the vile. She proceeds to beat Icicle in face with an ice fist causing Thomas' personality to briefly resurface, before escaping. Team Flash tries tracking Icicle's whereabouts with no luck, but Caitlin realizes that he would not have tried to kill her father if a part of him still existed and is more determined than ever to find him.
Return and Death[]
Icicle resurfaces to steal a prototype cryo-atomizer from Tannhauser Industries in order to recreate the process that created him and Killer Frost, allowing him to permanently suppress Caitlin and her mother's human sides, giving Icicle the "Snow Pack" he has always wanted. However, when Icicle attempts to murder Caitlin Thomas finds the strength to regain control of his body, saving her life. Thomas's reunion with his wife and daughter is cut short by the appearance of Grace Gibbons (Cicada 2.0) who fatally wounds Thomas with her dagger while trying to kill Caitlin and escapes with the cryo-atomizer. Thomas tells his family that he made a terrible mistake by leaving them and dies his Caitlin's arms.

Icicle is one of the few meta-humans in the series to have been created without the use of dark matter.
Though he is based on the Joar Mahkent version of Icicle, Thomas Snow is an original character.
Icicle mentions to have known a man named Victor Fries, otherwise known as Mr. Freeze, another DC villain with cryokinetic capabilities like Icicle.
