Dr. Joar Mahkent was a scientist who invented a cold gun and used it to commit crimes. He was part of the Injustice Society of the World and clashed with the Green Lantern (Alan Scott) on a regular basis alone and the JSA. After his death during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, he became a member of the Black Lantern Corps.
Cameron Mahkent[]
Modern Age[]
Cameron Mahkent, son of Joar Mahkent was a metahuman born with ice powers. He debuted in All-American Comics (Vol. 1) #90 (Oct. 1947). Cameron's New Earth counterpart had his DNA had been altered by exposure to his father's cold-projector. He served in the Injustice Society and joined the Secret Society of Super-Villains during Infinite Crisis. While in the Injustice Society, he met and married with Artemis Crock/Tigress, and they later had a daughter named Isabelle.
The second Icicle made his first known public appearance in his costumed identity as a member of Injustice Unlimited, the new version of the Injustice Society. He aided the rest of Injustice Unlimited in taking prisoner the businessmen attending an international trade conference in Calgary, Canada and holding them for ransom. Members of Infinity Inc. and the Global Guardians were present to guard the conference, but they felt compelled to do the bidding of Injustice Unlimited, who held Hourman hostage and had the Global Guardian lcemaiden placed in a hypnotic trance.
Icicle had Injustice Unlimited's leader, the Wizard, hypnotize lcemaiden again so that she would become the lcicle's subservient lover. In exchange, the lcicle agreed to free Solomon Grundy, as the Wizard wished. Hence, accompanied by Jade and the hypnotized lcemaiden, the lcicle joumeyed to Greenland, where Grundy was entrapped in ice. Grundy, however. broke free and overpowered the Icicle and Icemaiden. Grundy, though, was grateful to Jade for coming to rescue him from the
ice.
Jade used her powers to transport Grundy and the unconscious lcicle and Icemaiden to Canada, where the Global Guardians and Grundy defeated Injustice Unlimited in battle. lcemaiden was freed from the Wizard's hypnosis. The Icicle, however, escaped.
New 52[]
Cameron's Prime Earth counterpart was given cryogenic powers by his partner, the mega-wealthy Bellachek Temple. The mysterious mogul gave him a special assignment; guarding a meteor while it was stripped of minerals by nanobots, and then crash it into southern California. This would potentially kill millions, but Icicle did not care so long as he was well paid.
When rich-kid superheroes known as the Green Team investigated the meteor, Icicle froze their craft, causing it to crash-land. He similarly incapacitated the nano-armor of team leader Commodore Murphy, and ruptured the ship with expanding ice. He seemingly outmatched the heroes using an array of ice-weapons, but ultimately they caused an explosion that tore the meteor in half and marooned Icicle in space. In The New Golden Age future, Cameron became a member of the new Justice Society of America.

The second lcicle can generate and control intense cold from his body, including creating ice constructs and altering the environment around him to a winter flavor. He is quite athletic and is adept at swinging on ropes. His levet of skill as a hand-to-hand combatant was unknown.
