Ijiraq are a type of malevolent monster found in the mythology of the Inuit people (the native inhabitants of Arctic regions).
Biography[]
Ijiraq are described as a type of cursed creature from Inuit folklore, said to be the result of humans who have ventured too far from home and become lost between worlds. This causes a transformation into ijiraq, who seek to abduct children and cause them to become lost and either die or be transformed into another ijiraq.
They are masters of shapeshifting and can appear as human, caribou or any variant between (including a monstrous hybrid). They can induce confusion in others, cast illusions or magic and the area they inhabit is cursed so that victims always lose their way, no matter what. They can also become invisible from detection if one tries to see them directly; instead one must catch their presence from the corner of one's eye.
