|“||I've seen him in battle before, and oh what a sight it was. Perhaps I'm ranked too low for him to notice me right now. Well, he may not recognize my strengths yet, but one day, I'll show him what I'm made of.||„|
|~ Tartaglia on Capitano.|
Il Capitano, also known by his codename The Captain, is a background antagonist in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact.
Il Capitano was a member of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, a group of influential and powerful individuals who acted as the chief lieutenants of the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya. Codenamed "The Captain," he was an honorable and powerful warrior who was respected by his subordinates.
Capitano is voiced by Chris Tergliafera in English and by Ken Narita in Japanese. Tergliafera has also voiced Silva Zoldyck in Hunter x Hunter and Gaston in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. Narita has also voiced Sesshomaru in Inuyasha and Jeremiah Gottwald in Code Geass.
Il Capitano a.k.a. "The Captain" was one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, a group of powerful men and women who commanded the Fatui. The Fatui were a military faction who governed over the nation Snezhnaya and followed the Cryo Archon, the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya, in her quest to overthrow the Gods of Celestia. The Captain was a powerful combatant who valued honor and was well-liked by his subordinates. On one occasion he shared a battlefield with Tartaglia, the Eleventh Harbinger, who was in awe of his strength.
Funeral for The Fair Lady
|“||Though her methods tarnished her honor, Lohefalter's sacrifice is a great pity. Her loss shall not hinder our progress. But Dottore... What of Scaramouche and the Gnosis from Inazuma?||„|
|~ Capitano during La Signora's funeral.|
The Captain, alongside the other Harbingers, gathered in a cathedral in Snezhnaya for the funeral of La Signora, the Eighth Fatui Harbinger, who had been executed by the Electro Archon Baal during a Fatui plot in the nation of Inazuma. Although he disapproved of her methods, Capitano nevertheless thought that her loss was a shame. Setting aside the matter of the funeral, the Captain inquired about the ongoing hunt for Scaramouche, the Sixth Harbinger, who had gone rogue during the Inazuma plot and taken the Electro Archon's Gnosis with him. Il Dottore informed him that they would have to wait for Scaramouche to make his next move before proceeding further. Pierro proceeded to silence the gathered Harbingers and made a speech in Signora's memory as her coffin was encased in ice.
Powers & Abilities
- Political Influence: As one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Capitano was invested with nigh-unlimited executive authority by the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya. With the political and economical power invested in him, the Captain could call upon almost any resource in furtherance of the goal of the Fatui. He could command the authority of any Fatuus who weren't themselves Harbingers, and presumably wielded unquestionable authority in Snezhnaya. Additionally, his official position as a Snezhnayan diplomat meant that he couldn't be prosecuted in foreign nations without significant political tension being caused.
- Delusion: A Delusion was a device similar in nature to a Vision, allowing its user to channel elemental energy. Unlike a Vision, however, Delusions weren't bequeathed onto mortals by the Gods of Celestia but instead manufactured by the hands of mortals. Created by the Fatui to aid them in their goals, Delusions were personally granted by the Tsaritsa to her loyal subjects; few outside the Eleven Fatui Harbingers were privileged enough to receive a Delusion. Although more powerful than Visions, Delusions were more volatile and gradually drained the lifeforce of its wielder.
- Like the other Fatui Harbingers, Capitano's name and alias were derived from a stock character in commedia dell'arte, a form of traditional Italian pantomime theater characterized by its masked characters and representation of fixed social types. In commedia dell'arte, Il Capitano was a boastful man who told stories of great conquests he had undertaken, although he never presented any evidence of his deeds.
