The Iliess Majin Tribe was the magic and mythology-themed organisation within the Space Pirates Balban under the leadership of Iliess, the ones responsible for the death of Kurokishi Bullblack and major antagonists in Seijuu Sentai Gingaman. They served as the main antagonists between the 26th and 34th episodes as well as supporting antagonists in Seijuu Sentai Gingaman vs Megaranger.
As with all of the other Majin in Gingaman, if they survived for long enough, the Iliess Majin Tribe would pull out leather water skins full of Balban X. Drinking it would cause an unknown chemical process in thier bodies which would make them grow giant but would shorten thier lifespans so it was usually only used as a last resort.
History[]
Iliess, her brother Desphias and her daughters Medoumedou and Merudameruda joined the Balban three thousand years ago when they were formed by Captain Zahab to destroy planets for Daitanix to eat and turn into Planet Life Jewels. Iliess and her children quickly gained power within the Balban and assembled an army of magic monsters with the sole motivation of gaining as much money as possible. The Iliess Majin Tribe was successful in helping the Balban in thier mission but was sealed away with the rest of the Balban when the original Gingamen defeated Zahab on Earth and placed a seal over them.
In 1997, the seal over the Balban is broken by a mysterious earthquake and they return to being active threats but Daitanix's seal remains intact which forces the Balban to focus on ways to revive him with Zahab offering a massive fortune as a reward to whoever managed to succeed. This causes the Balban generals to start competing using thier separate Majin Corps but, before they start deploying monsters though, Captain Zahab leads them on an attack with the Seamen Yartots only to be intercepted by the new generation of the Gingamen. With the new threat, Zahab has to select a general to bring down the Gingamen so the generals present thier top monsters to try and impress Zahab with Budoh summoning Medoumedou. However, the general is ultimately decided by a game of poker with Sambash being chosen as the winner when he pulls a joker much to Iliess' disgust.
After Sambash is killed whilst fighting the Gingamen, Budoh is selected to be the main general much to Iliess' frustration. After Dotoumusha uncovers and captures the Lights of Ginga though, Iliess and Bucrates decide to frame Budoh as a traitor so she can take control and get Zahab's promised fortune. As such, she sends Medoumedou to pose as Budoh which leads to her succeeding Budoh when he is imprisoned and she uses her Majin to try and revive Daitanix using various mystical techniques. The first properly sent is Wangawanaga who Iliess sends to harvest hatred from human souls to increase his spear's power so he can break Daitanix's spear but this fails although he does manage to kill BullBlack during his plot. Geltgelt then emerges with the goal of trapping humans in mirrors so he can use them to free Daitanix and even manages to trap GingaiOh but Hyuuga becomes the new BullBlack and kills him as BullTaurus. Morgumorgu is sent to revive Daitanix using the amassed beauty of 81 people qnd Hielahiela was sent to steal 111 souls to revive Daitanix but they failed. When Biznella returns with the brainwashed Steel Starbeasts, he effectively proves thier cababiities against the Star Beasts so Iliess grants him Barukibaruki and tells the Majin to kill the Star Beasts but the Silver Star Beasts are redeemed and help to kill him.
After Gaaragaara fails to revive Daitanix using 333 marked hands, Iliess runs out of Majin so sends her remaining daughter to trap 22 people in her necklace so thier fear can be used to revive Daitanix and then sends Desphias to gather sadness from 3333 people. With Desphias' death, Iliess is out of minions and under threat of being killed by Zahab for incompetence so she begins one massive ritual to summon spectral lizard to draw the blood out of 9000 people so thier energy can be used to revive Daitanix. When the Gingamen try to intervene, he summons the souls of Wangawanga, Barukibaruki, Morgumorgu, Hielahiela and Gaaragaara to stop them but Ryouma manages to make his way through and stop the ritual which makes the revived Majin disappear. Enraged, Iliess assumes her ultimate form by absorbing many of her monsters' souls but she is soon killed as well by Super Armor Shine Gingaioh. After Iliess' death, Bucrates tries to revive her with her crystal but, despite choosing Iliess as the next general of the Balban, Zahab is well aware of her treachery towards Budoh and was only using her as a means to an end. As such, he destroys the crystal and throws Bucrates overboard to his supposed death.
During the celebrations after the death of Daitanix, the Gingamen also begin to have trouble remembering some of their other battles, Moak steps in and recounts their battles against Iliess and her Majin.
Trivia[]
- When the Majin were adapted into Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, most of them served Shellinda's equivalent Trakeena and none of them served Iliess' counterpart Hexuba.
- Gaaragaara was not adapted into Power Rangers Lost Galaxy due to mostly appearing as a Japanese fortune teller.
