The Illuminati are a militaristic and secretive organization of goblins in Final Fantasy XIV, led by the cunning and technologically enhanced Quickthinx Allthoughts. Their core ideology centers around the absolute control and monopolization of knowledge, which they view as the key to dominance. They pursue this vision through force, coercion, and advanced magitek—regardless of the cost to others.
Operating out of aetherial-infused ruins in the Dravanian Hinterlands, the Illuminati believe they are destined to reshape the world using the power of the primal Alexander, a colossal, time-warping machine built from the ruins of a Sharlayan facility.
History[]
The Illuminati emerged from a splinter sect of goblin thinkers who rejected the more communal and open approach to discovery. They believed that knowledge, like power, must be hoarded and weaponized. Their philosophy directly opposes the values of cooperation and scholarly sharing championed by civilizations such as Sharlayan.
Their ambitions culminated in Project Alexander, the summoning of the primal Alexander, which they hoped to use as a symbol and tool of their intellectual supremacy. Quickthinx Allthoughts, driven by both vision and vengeance, led this charge after transforming himself with arcane and mechanical enhancements following a failed experiment.
The primal Alexander granted the Illuminati the power to manipulate time and reality, but its unstable nature ultimately turned against them. The Warrior of Light and allies, with assistance from goblins like Mide and defectors from within the Illuminati ranks, dismantled the project and prevented a temporal catastrophe.
