Ilya Sokurov is the main antagonist of The Rookie episodes “Simone” and “Enervo”. He was a CIA operative who initiated terrorists attacks to get revenge on the man who caused his family’s death.
Biography[]
Ilya was a part of a top secret CIA secret known as Enervo, an operation where people were recruited to create chaos in their home countries by committing numerous murders. After joining and completing training at Area 51, he was arrested by Russian authorities in 2018 and betrayed by the Bill August, the leader of the operation. Bill failed to protect Ilya’s family from Russian authorities, which resulted in their executions. After he was sent to a Russian penal colony, he escaped and traveled to United States to start a series of revenge attacks on the CIA and Bill.
Sokurov hired Ezekiel Freemont, a young student, to build six detonators for bombs before attempting to kill him. After purchasing the detonators, Ilya broke into the house of Professor Meadows, a crazy man, and stole his files for Los Angeles traffic patterns. Ilya then abducted the husband of a National Guard soldier. Ilya was found at a power station in the Hollywood Hills and was seen suspiciously by a couple who called the police. Once John Nolan and Lucy Chen went to check the plant, they found a bomb and were injured because of it. The San Fernando Valley’s power turned off, and later that day, he killed the husband and broke into the National Guard Armory, where he stole 200 kilograms of C4 whilst using the husband as a lure.
Later on, Ilya placed bombs in rented moving trucks and hired 5 innocent men to drive around Los Angeles. While on a roof examining the highway, one of the trucks exploded, which killed 17 and injured 34 others people. Fortunately, the other trucks and their explosives were disabled. To frame Bill, he planted his hair into his car, called the police, and dumped his car and phone. Ilya was then found by FBI trainee Simone Clark and punched her in the face. He fled the scene to a nearby aquarium, where he explained his motives. Moments later, a CIA hit squad started attacking him, Nolan, and Simone. After a long standoff, he was shot by a CIA agent attempting to kill him but he survived.
