Imajin is the main antagonist of the manga Dragon Quest: The Emblem of Roto. He is an otherworldly deity summoned by Gorgona who wished to destroy the universe and recreate it.

Personality[]

Ruthless, sadistic, and prideful, Imajin seen himself as above every other lifeforms, having no problems in destroying cities. He also see his minions as nothing but disposable tools, not even showing the slightest sadness when his high-ranking minions are killed.

Biography[]

Imajin was an otherworldly deity summoned by Gorgona, who was making an undying body as he was trying to create an ultimate lifeforms. Imajin then promised Gorgona that if he gave him the undying body, he would gave half of the word to him if he took over it. Gorgona accepted it, and after gaining his body, Imajin and his forces became stronger and stronger, as they either killed or absorbed those who opposed Imajin. Eventually, Imajin destroyed the Kingdom of Mu, and his power was so great the continent of Mu shattered and sunk into the sea. However, Imajin was soon sealed away by Rubiss, the goddess who sealed Imajin's body, into the Black Orb and his mind into the deepest ends of the universe. As for Gorgona, he and his scientists were banished to the underworld.

During the event of Dragon Quest III, the demon lord Zoma imprisoned Rubiss in a statue, thus breaking Gorgona's seal, who built a device to summon Imajin's soul back to the world. Imajin then rebuilt his forces, having Dragonlord, Gorgona, Gnon, and later Jagan. Imajin then sent them attacking various kingdoms to look for the remaining descendants of Roto, who is none other than Arus.

Eventually, Dragonlord's minions tracked Arus down, so Imajin sent Dragonlord to kill him. Dragonlord sent the mini-demon Zebul to kill Arus, only for Arus to slay Zebul instead.

After the failure of Neqros the demon sword king, Imajin sent Gorgona to kill Arus, who resurrected Baramos to kill the descendant of Roto, only for Baramos to fail as well. Imajin then sent Dragonlord and Imajin to release the sea lord Leviathan, who was once a demon lord that rebelled against Imajin, but now had his mind destroyed as Imajin put the parasite Dafola inside him, reducing him into a mindless beast. Gnon, however, shown concern over Imajin's decisions.

After Leviathan was defeated, Gnon angrily asked Imajin what would he do if Leviathan wasn't killed by Arus, as Leviathan then might devour the entire world, only to be threatened to be executed by Imajin. Gnon then went to fight Arus, and only ended up getting killed as well. However, Imajin didn't care much and sent Jagan to obtain the Black Orb in Tantegel Castle, only for the orb to be revealed to be fake.

However, it was soon revealed that Arus survived, and Jagan went to fight Arus without Imajin's agreement. Imajin then sent Gorgona to retrieve the Black Orb, only for Gorgona to be killed by his brother, Tao.

After the defeat of Gorgona, Imajin acknowledged his minion's deaths and sent Dragonlord to look for the Black Orb while rejecting Dragonlord's request to mourn for Gorgona's death. However, Jagan ended up obtaining the Black Orb and broke it in front of Imajin out of spite for being used as a tool by Imajin, only for the evil deity to tell Jagan that he had broke the seal of his body. Imajin then absorbed his minions to turn back to his giant form, and started to rampage on the world, using the soul of the dead to make the Magical Moons, which Imajin would use to destroy the universe and recreate it. However, when Imajin was crossing the sea, the new sea king sacrificed himself to delay Imajin, giving Arus and a redeemed Jagan, now known as Alan, to fight Imajin. Imajin attempted to absorb Alan's blood, only for Alan to absorb Imajin's instead. Arus then sealed Imajin's body in the Black Orb away again, seemingly defeating Imajin for good. However, it is revealed that Alan absorbed Imajin's soul as well, thus he successfully possessed Alan, Imajin then started to to the location of Yggdrasil to use the Magical Moons to destroy the world, however, when he arrived, the Yggdrasil was already destroyed on Rubiss's request, foiling Imajin's plan. Imajin then angrily broke the Black Orb, turning back into his original form and battled the heroes one last time.

At first, Imajin was able to overwhelm the heroes, as even powerful spells like Kazapple couldn't damage him since the Magical Moons were supplying Imajin with power. The queen of Japan and her servant also came to assist the heroes, only for her to get quickly killed by Imajin. However, Poron, the master sage was able to cast Magic Brust, destroying two of the Magical Moons. Imajin then summoned some meteorites as an attempt to kill the people fighting him. This was Imajin's fatal mistake, as the meteorites accidentally destroyed his remaining Magical Moons, thus Imajin was no longer able to regenerate. The people then started to give their magic power to Arus, much to Imajin's horror. Arus then used his blade to slice Imajin with all of his might, bisecting the deity's body and revealing his core.  Arus then destroyed the core of Imajin, finally killing the evil deity once and for all. Imajin's body soon sprouted into a new Yggdrasil, resurrecting everyone that were killed by Imajin in the final battle.
