Forget the list. He/She goes to the block.
~ The Imperial Captain sentencing the protagonist to death.

The Imperial Captain is a minor antagonist in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. She was a high-ranking soldier in the Imperial Legion under General Tullius.

She is voiced by Claudia Christian.

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Imperial Captain was a female from the Imperial race who wore Imperial armor fitting her rank.

Personality[]

The Imperial Captain was fiercely loyal to the Empire and her commanding general, but she was ruthless to anyone who was unaffiliated, as she sentenced the protagonist to death despite not having anything to do with the war. She also showed signs of prejudice, as she used racist slang when referring other races.

Abilities and Powers[]

The Imperial Captain had authority over lower-ranking subordinates and was skilled in swordsmanship. Her skill depends on which difficulty the game is on.

History[]

The Imperial Captain was present at Helgen during the execution of Ulfric Stormcloak his men, Lokir and the Dragonborn, who were all ambushed and captured by the Imperial Legion. When Lokir tried to run away, the captain ordered Imperial archers to shoot him dead, and threatens to the same to anyone-else who attempts to escape as well. When the Imperial soldier, Hadvar questions what to do with the Dragonborn, since their name wasn't on their list of enemies and criminals, the captain disregards their non-involvement and decides that they should die along with the other prisoners.

After everyone hears a strange noise, the general ignores it and orders the execution to be carried out, which the captain agrees to. She orders the Priestess of Arkay to read them their last rites, but the priestess is then interrupted by a Stormcloak soldier who demands to be executed who insists upon getting his execution over with. The captain places her foot on the soldier's back so that his neck is on the chopping block. After the beheading of the first prisoner, the Imperial Captain orders that the Dragonborn be next to die. Upon hearing a strange sound for second time, she ignores it and demands the prisoner to be executed at once. But just before the Dragonborn would be killed, Alduin appears attacks Helgen.

What happens to the Imperial Captain depends on the player's choice of whoever to go with while escaping into Helgen's keep. If the player goes with Hadvar, the captain is never seen again, and is presumed to have died during Alduin's attack. But if the player goes with Ralof, the captain and another soldier travel into the keep as well, where Ralof and the player ambush and kill them, and then take the key they need from her to progress further.
